Now everyone knows Vitamin C when taken improperly can cause a lot of problems. Oh yeah reds and cocaine are dangerous too. (Who knows what a red is anymore?) Now, did Jerry Garcia influence multiple generations to become addicted to drugs? Come on David be real. YES, he DID do a lot of drugs as did MANY of those people from that era but the real question is DID HE INFLUENCE THEM. I doubt it. They did it on their own dude, then "discovered" The Dead, went to concerts, ate grilled cheese and did a lot of drugs. Not saying it was right or wrong just laying it out. Having made that statement did anyone start doing drugs because of the "movement" and bands back then. Probably so. Wasn't just Garcia but add a host of other names like Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and it's one hell of a long list. LSD was popular I believe and where the hell did that start? Garcia was in a different time. LOTS of people were experimenting with drugs. Not saying it's right or wrong - just a reality. I don't think he started it but admitting to it so openly was easier to do especially in the "business" he was in. Conversely, let's look at Rush Limbaugh. Addicted to prescription medicine, not touting it and coming "clean" when he had to. Duhhhh! Like he was going to advertise on the air that he needs more drugs? Think that might have hurt his credibility if he had just been saying "hi this is RUSH and Percodine rocks!". No brainer here. Guy make s a ton of money, leads the Republican Party because none have the balls to stand up to him and eats all he wants. It's like being a TV Evangelist basically. Cheat on the wife, government whatever and cry for the public and all is forgiven (in some cases). To sum up sentiments I have read "why punish him for being successful?" Can't argue with that logic. Jerry is dead, Rush is alive and many successful drug dealers that provided them with "merchandise" are in prison. Reckon we should let them all go as well. They pumped a lot of money into the economy.

During the 1950's and 60s it was used in variouse tests, some on volentery patients and some on unknowing test subjects by both the CIA (Project MK-ULTRA) and US Army. And I am exteemly sure that it was used by agencies of most other powers in exactly the same way one it became known what it could do, I know that MI6 tried it on UK service personel. Ya, and Ken Kesey(Sometimes A Great Notion)volunteered to do acid in the early 60s. Before it was illegal. And he would have a struggling band(The Dead) over his house. He and his buddy Neal Cassidy(who was friends with Jack Kerouac) kind of started the acid generation. Thats more parenthesis than I have used in years. And NO. I never thought about how many lives a singer and band leader ruined. Except Elvis. Look how many fatties there are because of his sloth.
