How refreshing it is to see that common sense prevailed in our nation's highest court. 20 New Haven "white" firefighters, one of them Hispanic, proved they were victims of reverse discrimination. These firefighters were denied their job promotions simply because there weren't any minorities that passed the same exact test. Fortunately the Supreme Court concluded that discrimmination in all its forms, is discrimmination.

Tests are one measurment that seperate those that can versus those that can't. I know, I know...we live in a "politically correct" day and age and such talk may be insensitve to those that can't. Unfortunately, you see this nonsense from schools that stopped using letter grades (and red inked pens) to little league where they don't even keep score. We replaced winners and losers with "participation" trophies so that we all can feel good about ourselves.

The "real" world does not work that way. Our free enterprise system expects, and demands the best in all its forms. These 20 firefighters were not handed the promotions, they earned it. What a concept...work hard, study hard, and yes...good things can happen.

She was wrong morally on this but she was following the law. She is not the type to legislate form the bench, she has to follow the law.

Even Ginsburg has stated this type of case has not been decided yet, this was just a beginning. This type of affirmative action will soon be in many courts I suspect.

About time, we need some of that over here. People should be promoted on merit and not because of there race/creed or position in society

Its sad it was such a close call on votes...Its a no brainer IMO. Should have never been an issue in the first place but I guess at least a precedence was set.

    Damn...I agree with you!

It should have NEVER reached the Supreme Court and the vote should have been 9-0.

This case is a no brainer...it is common sense!
