Hey, I've been out of town for the past couple of weeks- I checked some of the posts but didn't see any discussion of the Obama posse's admission that they didn't really know the condition of the economy when they forced the first stimulus package through Congress. Any thoughts? Sound like responsible governance/management to you? Takes me back to the infamous...."above my paygrade" quote but now it's for real!

Be fair David the measures he forced through as you put it had for the most part been agreed by all sides and were in the main those of the last administration, I dont think any one had the slightest idea just how devistating the situation realy was

 

"Forced through as I put it"? The bill was presented at midnight & Nancy Pelosi demandedthat the democraps in Congress vote in favor of it without having ample time to even read it much less study & digest it.
And any responsible leader would have a grasp of the situation before committing our kids & grandkids to the massive debt Obama has laid on them...but then again, you have no dog in the fight, do you?

 

Again I have to wonder about your grasp of the world economic situation, of course I have a Dog in the fight as you put it, America is one of our largest trading partners, what happens economicly in your country has a rather direct effect on our economy, just look at what we are talking about. How can Pelosi force? By stopping campaign money to those who disagree with her. By closing PAC's, by forcing primary's as they did to Lieberman who dared to disagree with the party line. Power is used, no gun is needed Steve.

 

So then tell me; who is going to pay the trillion dollar debt the previous administration racked up from 2001 to 2008?

Your Americans this is your country. We all would like to make a correct choice in government and our lives.
Washinton is in and of itself a place for all politicians to do their business.The needs of the people are ignored by inflamatory situations that are contrived to keep us busy attacking each other.
We now settle for the best of the worst.We just can not seem to get a simple fact , we are being played at the highest level. They will tax and then take away your ability to survive as a small business, or as an individual.

Jack if the Democratic members decided enmass to vote against any bill there is nothing on earth that Pelosi or any one else could do to them as they would then hold the power, do not forget that rather a large number had just been elected so woudnt have to rely on campaign funds for some time and by then the party would be relient on there votes on other issues. the thing works both ways when it is more than one individual involved.
The comments originaly stated she/he forced the measures through that sugests there was more than one Democrat against the idea. Can you imagine what would happen if they tried to withold funding from shall we say twenty to 30 members LOL

I know that Obama is not perfect and I have a few problems with the guy but Bush left the country in absolute shambles and he is putting in an effort to clean up that mess.

 

Here is one for you.

How about congress signing on to a multi billion dollar bill and the president doing the same with out congress ever have had read the thousand plus pages. I believe that is inconsistant with the law of the land.
That is a power grab at the least .
You have opinions for causes not because.
I have voted for both sides in my years and now I will look to the oath of office and see who follows it.

NO congressperson has ever read the bills. This just does not happen. I bet fewer than 1% of what gets voted on is read by the congress person. As for socialism look at Denmark, unfettered capitalism leads to 8 year old kids working 14 hour days in a mine.

They do not do their job. They know enough to put in ear marks. But they do not read the bills. Maybe you have hit on something. This would prove they are not competent to be in office, and carry out the peoples work. That would be both sides.
On the stimulus tax bill not even a staff could get the message to a senator or congressman in a short briefing. Nobody had read it according to their own words.
