Look at all the medical breakthroughs and new technology. Take away the profit and you'll take away the incentive. I just do not understand how you can be for something before you have read and fully understand it. Name one government project that came in on budget ? Medicare, nope 7X budget and it's failing. Any project that worked as well as promised ( aside from Ike's federal highway system ) ???? It just seems odd to be so for something that is secret and not yet finished. I would not trust ANY administration with my and my familys healthcare. Obama himself has stated he is not familiar with the entire bill, yet he is out there lying to you about it's costs, and you believe it. Amazing. Here is from our own non partisan budget office: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D99J23A02&show_article=1 You can attack the source of the article, but not the source of the statement.
I dont think taking a certain government policy to court to determine its constitutionality is the way socialism works. Why would you post that?
How about living without medical care Has any one ever been in a situation while in the Military and seen a country where no one has any medical care. Where old and infirmed have very little chance to survive ? In Asia , many large and small countries survived the best they could without doctors. The people who wore glasses were consider intellectuals and murdered. For me Cambidia comes to mind. Where care given would bring what ever they could give you just for the attempt to help. Health care is a fragile thing and we do need to stop waste and excessive costs. The government has never run any business any where except into the earth. Bureaucrats create only more overhead. Pretty soon you are in worse shape then what is being called wasteful and corrupt. Medicare pays but never checks on using assets from enforcement to make sure monies paid are correct. Be careful you do not sign your own death warrant.
I fear the poor care we currently see at VA hospitals will be the norm for all health facilities under government healthcare. Could we see long lines, substandard care and waiting lists for medical treatment? All I can say is what I see through experience. Both my parents and a brother had to have bypass surgery and each were admitted and operated on within 3 days of diagnosis while a friend of mine in Ontario had to wait 2 months to get his bypass surgery under Canada's government system. Is this what we can expect?
This is what I dont understand, some here complain that the goverment has never sucessfuly run anything so how can they be trusted to pour billions into health care yet I did not hear these same people coming out complaining about the billions spent on creating homeland security, or the billions needed to fund two wars But they are all run by the same people are they not? KLJ mentiones the different systems used within the navy hospital's, who is it who says what goes into those hospitals? do the Millitery themselfs not stipulate what systems they require. Can the Navy talk to it's fleets and offices world wide at any given time? The FBI they seem to manage to communicate even in different time zones (Another goverment organisation I believe) Can American embasies communicate with Washington or are they also on different systems LOL
Well, you see it's different here. Whenever I complained about the waste of tax payers money on a war in Iraq I was often greeted with "it's our war". Sorry but no. Getting rid of Sadaam should have been the end and that should have happened in the first Gulf War. Afghanistan is where we should have been all along in bigger numbers. This front I support. These are just my opinions of course but I do have problems with outfits such as Haliburton and mercenaries that made damn good money over there at MY and YOUR expense. Military is important I won't ever deny that but how it is used is a different story. What have we really gained in Iraq? We eliminated Sadam. That's about it in a nutshell. We leave and things go back to what they were. In Afghanistan and in conjuction with Pakistan we can gain a lot more and could have been doing so all along. Should we go into Iran next? North Korea? What would we truly gain? Iran has enough internal issues and North Korea is run by a nutrod. Think the Chinese and Russians aren't looking at it as well? Reckon any of them want to see nukes going off? So we spend billions on the military where many don't agree it should be. Thankfully the military always spends it's money wisely. (groan) So I have a unique solution to this perhaps. For those that can't afford medical they should be conscripted. It would increase our armed forces, support families and give the great medical attention that KLJ has mentioned to all of us poor saps. Take an overweight 47 year old man like me into the army. There are millions of us to help build a military machine funded by the taxpayers. I/we now have a job and I/we now have insurance that seems to suck at times. Yes, I am yanking a few chains here but when you think about it DeOrc is right. I just extrpolated quite a bit. If we can waste money on wars (and we are) why not put it towards a nation with better, more efficient healthcare? This could actually provide more soldiers in the long run. Show me how the military saves money THEN complain about a proposed change to health care.
Thank you for making my point exactly. Look at the waste in the military, both budget and how it works. I did not ask for two bad examples of government, I asked for a good one. Now keep trying. Side note. Our national security does not seem an issue or matter for the left, but at least the right tried and DID keep us safe after 911.
Iraq war There was a man who lived in Bagdad as an inspector, and general look see guy. He was there for about seven years. He bcame well known and trusted. He was approached by a number of Generals of the Iraqi Army. They were to the point, if you want a change in leader ship, we can make that happen ! Just give us support if we run into trouble. We do not think it will be a problem. This information was passed to the people who can get such things to decision makers. They also said you will not have to invade or spend money and manpower . Well you know what happened. He did a sit down for a bayarea group who looks at after the fact items. He did write a book but it was late and I did not write down his name. The major question was why, he said I do not know after explaining all this very carefully on C-Span last week. A billion dollars a month for seven year. Thank you Mr Bush and Congress ! Now we are back with a new player who is saving America by possibly commiting Genocide when it comes to the older population. Higher Cancer rates will ensue like Canada. Mom and Dad have no idea that the life span with all the things in the medical arena will not be available to them. Guess what, they will figure out a way to pay for it ( Right) ? No one can figure out what he is selling besides "Soilent Green" . Sure is not health care. He, the annointed one, also has paid for votes with Treasury money for companies who should have gone directly to Bankruptcy court. That is what that court exists for. Some one once said the only difference between a Socialist and a Communist is , One kills you in the womb. The other waits until you are of no use and then life ends. Pep
Some here seem to be missing the point I was trying to make If you think your goverment is so inept it can not be trusted to run a health care programe for your nation then how on earth has it been able to run two wars and to a extent quite well? I hear you say that Health care should be left in the hands of the insurence companies now I have to ask have they done such a good job recently? If we are to take this to it's logical conclusion then why do you have a goverment at all? why not just allow big buisness to run it all
So then, we should get rid of Medicaid too. And VA care. Arent those socialised medicine? And how about charging those in the military for medical care. Yeah, yeah; they are putting thier lives on the line. But so are Police officers and firefighters. Yet they have to pay for thier health insurance.
Did Obama's speech last night clarify his plan? Geesh, the guy is pushing, pushing, pushing yet can't give any details or explain how it will be funded. This okay with some of you?
Yea, I'm out of focus. Unlike the guy before talking about ''Soylent Green''. Yea, he's on target. David you dont want socialised medecine. Niether do I. so why not get rid of all types of it. Including the ones I mentioned?
I would accept it if they would start calling it "rationed healthcare", because that's what it is. All your medical records will be submitted to D.C. and a formula in a computer will dictate to your doctor whether you get care based on past medical history and age. Including everything that's happened with you before the system went into affect and any life support device you have or have ever been on. It's out of the doctors hands. What doctors that are left that is. There's no feeling bad for someone special so they get care. The database will decide who gets what care and there will probably be some big pay offs from the rich to get the care they need, above the peasants. If he would be straight forward with this and the country would come to a consensus that this is what needs to be done, great. If it's got to be a big secret though, no. I'm not for it. Anything that's got to be kept secret to get rammed through probably isn't good. Anybody can easily say this is what we need to fix it until it's their parents the system is pulling the plug on at age 65. And if we're relying on the people who were inept enough to vote for Obama to figure out what this healthcare plan is about than they surely won't figure it out until it affects their lives directly. Which I suspect is the way Obama (and Tom Dashle since he blatantly admitted it in his book) wants it to be.
Accurate From all that I can look at from both sides of the coin I would say this is accurate and a form of genocide when you link it with partial birth abortion.
Yeah, if we do go to this, I don't think you could honestly say the country is progressing. We don't have near the population of many of these other countries with lesser economies. Yet somehow we have the biggest problems. The rich and the government have screwed this country into the state it's in.
We currently have rationed healthcare. That is the system that we live under takes 17% of GPD and still rations healthcare, that is what you are defending
