There you go again......creating an argument where one doesn't exist...I never debated this issue with you. Focus!!!!
I should note that it is a violation of the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) for a commissioned officer to make statements demeaning to the President (and many other officials, including some state ones). McChrystal could, in theory, be court-martialed for what he said. Odds are, after 3+ decades of honorable service, he'll be allowed to retire.
Let me get this right, David you are attacking the President for firing a Genral yet you havnt taken the time to find out why he had fired him? Now I believe you worked in banking David, what would have happend to you if you had given a interview to a national newspaper/mag having a go at your boss? do you think your employers would have looked at it in a good way David? Also this is not the 1st time a high ranking Field officer has been removed for such a sin Remember Douglas MacArther? now he was a 5* General, holder of the Medal of Honor, Boss of the NATO led forces in Korea and he spoke out of turn and was removed by President Harry S. Truman's Now was that to appease his Ego David or simply the commander in Chief doing his job?
So that's his latest whine eh. While in the process of being hypercritical, it isn't necessary to actually have a valid criticism, it is only necessary to have a criticism and then defending that criticism beyond all reason thereafter. I bet he had no problem with Bush firing or retiring like 5 Generals for having different opinions and eventually being proven right. Ah, his time honored family tradition of being a closed minded partisan hack has certainly won him friends and influenced people hasn't it?
You have proven yourself clueless David. I obviously think a lot more before I type than you do. You burned your own butt. There it is. He is indeed a good General. I've done some reading. He also liked to push things a bit too far and this time he did it. I admire the guy for his values and commitment but bottom line is he Fd up. Geez David. I read your original link then found a few more off of it. Urged you to read them but you are one dimensional and you have proven it once and for all. You'll go with anything that degrades President Obama whether or not it is true. Maybe that's why some of us seem like we wil defend anything he says or does? News flash. If the messenger can't be trusted people tend to shy away. Some will even do some research or worse yet read about it. You should try this on occasion. Blind maniacal hatred and I thought Midas was bad.
I guess it would depend on what I said, wouldn't it. Now, please tell me, what exactly did the General say that should be classified as "having a go" at BO?
You better not hurt BO's feelings or you'll face the consequences!! Those are your words David spoken without any idea as to why the President had removed this Soldier from his post, you have made no effort to find out therfore that I would say constitutes a attack upon the President. It had nothing to do with hurting anyones feelings David the man broke the rules and behaved in a very inapropriate manner Just a few extracts 'It's f***ing gay': An aide's response to the reporter when asked about a dinner McChrystal was attending with 'some French minister' - a dinner that McChrystal wondered how he had been 'screwed' into attending. 'Biden? Did you say "Bite Me?"': An aide's suggestion as McChrystal laughs over what questions he may receive about America's gaffe-prone vice president 'Uncomfortable and intimidated': How McChrystal allegedly described Obama during their first encounter, according to sources at the meeting 'I Suck At Fighting': How McChrystal's self-described 'Team America' labeled the International Security Assistance Force The article reads: 'He’s [McChrystal's] in France to sell his new war strategy to our Nato allies – to keep up the fiction, in essence, that we actually have allies. Since McChrystal took over a year ago, the Afghan war has become the exclusive property of the United States. This I can assure you has annoyed Whithall as we have lost some 300 service personel and have 10,000 still in action so if you want the US to continue to loose Allies then Well !!!
In the orginal link BO called McChrystals words "scornful remarks". They weren't labled as scandalous, treasonous or anything else for that matter- scornful- hardly deserving of such wrath. BO was "uncomfortable" & "intimated" according to McChrystal, hardly words that earth shattering. There isn't a single in your post that anyone should have ever paid attention to, much less BO. A group of military guys calling some formal function "gay"? Cracking a silly joke at Biden's expense? Get real.
As soon as I read what he said and where he said it, I knew he was going to go. It was either extremely poor judgment, an uncontrolled God Complex or a 'death by moderator'. I actually lean heavily toward #3 and, if he ends up running for office as a Republican in the future, I will be 100% convinced. The Republican Party faithful will dismiss his lapse of military discipline and fawn over his perceived 'sticking it' the the administration.
You should read the entire Rolling Stone article David instead of just asking others what's in it. It really is a very good article and by no means just an attack on General McCrystal. After reading it I can say that General McCrystal has some very endearing qualities about him. Especially when it comes down to dealing with "common" troops. Definitely a go getter. He was there for them and for this I applaud him. However, He has a big mouth basically. Not just against the President but members of the administration and our "allies" as well. Since you bothered to read what De Orc said a teeny bit may have soaked into your skull and penetrated your brain. Your response doesn't indicate it though. Had the General kept his thoughts to himself or in proper channels he wouldn't be where he is now. As it was he chose the wrong channels and it's obvious that his staff was influenced as well. Does the Commander in Chief just keep letting it go until it's down to a "foot soldier"? I think not and therefore he has dug his own grave. A damn shame too. Unacceptable behaviour especially in times of war. ANY President would have made the same move because they have to. We, as a country, are not a dictatorship but the minute you start letting any military personel call all of the shots you're headed that way. That's worse than Socialism isn't it?
So David you believe that calling the French Minister of The Armed forces "Gay" woudnt have raised eyebrows at the Château de Versailles saying that America was fighting the war alone woudnt have raised even more concern Specialy here in the UK were we have lost so many of our service personel? You think it is ok for a commander in chief to act in such a manner while having a drink with a mag reporter?? Jesus I would love to see your reaction if President Obama had given such a interview Time you got real David and stoped your incesent Hatred of your President
Just as a matter of Interest David do you know why and who sacked these guys? Admiral William Fallon General Jay Garner General John K. Singlaub
