What is it about politics that makes people get so angry?

or passionate, in a non-***** sort of way.

I try to care, like other people do,
but almost everything in politics is so much bigger then me.

 

In the US's two party, highly partisan mess of a political system, it is equivalent to rooting for a sports team. And that is exactly how the two parties like it.

 

Like rooting between the have nots and the have mores.

 

Like rooting for the people that work for a living or those that expect a handout.

 

Corporate profiteers are the biggest recipients of "handouts". They steal. rape and otherwise pilfer from other people's hard work, and call it capitalism. The difference is one group takes what they can get, and the other group takes everybody else's share of the pie for themselves before anybody else even knows there IS a pie. Business and mega profit 101, Thurston Howell style.

 

What system would you advocate if BO is successful in eliminating capitalism?

 

That would be an interesting question to see answered honestly.

 

Unfortunately I don't think that will happen. I've been trying to get that answer from tomc for quite some time now- he is able to recite the rhetoric he just doesn't know what it means...maybe dr moen should give him Part II of his marching orders?

So what's best for the country doesn't matter to you as long as you can get the satisfaction of knowing you've done something anti-conservative? Really? Heck, think about what's best for your family? Your kids? Advocating stupidity because the conservative way is contrary to your wacko ideology just doesn't make sense, even for you.

ANYTHING that opposes or stands in opposition to right wing lunacy is better than the right wing lunacy. Wackos on the right make it easy for the rest of us to stand in opposition to their damned souls and venomous practices because self serving elitism, greed, ignorance, hypocrisy. self righteousness, self absorbtion, racist and corporate crime are all hallmarks of the republican party. Therefore ANYTHING they are for, I am against by default. The wacko mouthpieces that represent them also help seal the deal. Their inability as a party, to ever oppose anything that is against "capitalism" simply because it looks or smells like capitalism, despite who or what it hurts, also help make my stance very easy to adopt. All that, and the fact that most of the actual republicans I have ever met in my life are usually completely self absorbed and have no clue about anything other than generic RNC viewpoints (and often lots of zeros to the right of their checking account's decimal point). The higher the dollar amount, the higher the level of ignorance. Like I said.....easy to stand opposed to their version of reality.

 

So, the system we have had since the birth of our country, the system that has made us the super power, the system that has made us the weathiest country in the world isn't good enough for you? Would you rather try one of the myriad of systems that have failed every time they were tried? Or would you like to propose a new system? Keep in mind that only one of two entities can run the economy, either the people of the government.

 

For the last 5 or 6 decades, Communism has filled that role.

 

The system has become so perverted, deeply corrupted by criminals with big money, and the laws themselves rewritten by the criminals excusing themselves, I'd say that system, that is our CURRENT system, (whatever that is now) is worthless. Compare the lunacy. Big bank bailouts are a "have to have it" despite what the deficit becomes. The the right will complain about Obama's deficits, paying no mind to said bailouts, then turn around and block umemployment compensation for the regular Joe (or the "non corporate" entity).

I understand that "wealth" is all that you see with your tunnel vision Spooky, so I wouldn't expect you to to ever stand against your corporate Gods.

 

You seem to think that both the economic and political systems of the United States are overrun by corruption. Perhaps you should study the effects of communism with respect to corruption. And while reading books may be a start, a visit to Russia will give a much clearer look at it.

 

I'd say we're the kings of corruption. Perhaps you should study the ongoing effects of corporate crime in the Gulf. Generations will suffer from BP's mega-profit approach that is the worst disaster now destroying people's lives. Why isn't the right standing up and screaming about inequities of the folks that make their living in the Gulf. I'll tell ya why. Because right wingers go with the biggie corporate conglomerates (like BP). Small business in the gulf suffering means nothing to the RNC. Mega profiteers trump the "small business" folks they pretend to represent.
Hey I wonder how great we'll look when the country finally defaults on our debt to China? I'd bet the right will in China's pocket. Everything bought lock, stock and barrel by the mega profiteers. Send the pri**s to jail and execute them.

 

You want disasters, I give you CHERNOBYL. Or maybe something a little more common like the air pollution in Bejing that affected the Olympic athletes. Had the Olympics not been in China, do you think the Chinese government would have cleaned up the air pollution problem?

The corruption was so bad in the former Soviet Union that it caused a complete collapse of second most powerful nation in the world. If you think you want communism, move to Russia and see how long it still takes you to buy bread in certain areas. China has even worse food problems, but you won't hear about them because there is no freedom of the press in that country.

You think you are some type of whistleblowing visionary out to expose the evils of capitalism. In reality, you are a spoiled brat who has no apprecation for the freedoms and wealth that you have compared to the meager existence of most of the human beings on this planet. Those freedoms and wealth were provided by our economic and political systems of the United States yet you feel the constant need to bite the hands that feed you. Do us all a favor! Move to a third world country (preferably one without internet) and see how you like just trying to survive each day. Then you will understand how lucky you really are to live in this country and we won't have to listen to your incessant whining. Most countries would kill to have only a 10% unemployment rate. Are the corporations to blame in every country, or just the one you love to hate, the United States.

 

Fact is more and more of the world looks upon us without the respect and admiration they once did. More and more people around the world truly despise us as a whole.

The country was founded as a capitalistic society Tom, yet you clearly hate capitalism. The corruption you hate has been at much higher levels in the past than it is now. Perhaps you should read some history books and learn about the reasons why anti-trust laws, labor unions, and regulatory agencies were created.

Your irrational hatred of everything Republican makes you view the state of the country with a hopelessly pessimistic eye. Nothing is as bad as you make it out to be. I tried to convey this to you by comparing the state of the other so called superpowers in the world who have alternative economic and political systems than the United States. Instead of recognizing that while our systems are not perfect they are better than every other system, you simply revert back to your I hate Republican mantra. While you didn't state in your passage that you hate Republicans, I know that you do. That equates to roughly half the country. So how can someone who hates our economic and political system and half of the country's inhabitants not hate the country? The truth hurts doesn't it Tomclown.
