Which Democrats Should Resign

If anyone in politics had an ounce of ethics, they'd all resign. If only one side is willing to stand up and say that we will not tolerate ethical lapses in our ranks, then the other party wins by default. The corrupting factor is always the same...Money. Take money out of the equation and ethics will return almost overnight. You can't demand ethics but you can arrange the system so that you take out the temptation to be corrupt. People who resign will be replaced with the next group of people to be corrupted. It's not the people that need to be replaced, it is the system that needs to be replaced.

 

I don't think anyone suggested communism either. Public financing was the solution in case it went past you. You wouldn't need to worry about corrupt officials if they weren't taking money all the time. That's pretty much on-topic.

I hate to agree with you but public finance of election campaigns is the only answer. Give each candidate a budget, eliminate special interest groups, and see who can run the most effective campaign with the fixed amount of money. If they can't control their own campaign finances, they are not fit to hold a government office which requires them to balance a budget.

 

My only concern is that the people in office would spend 4 to 6 years slanting policies towards various industries and then get rewarded after they leave office with a lucrative job. Sort of like military personnel do currently and are rewarded with nice high paying jobs in the defense industry after they retire.

Bill Clinton? He doesn't necessarily hold an office these days but he has become the patriarch of the democrat party. He lied to us all, was impeached, disbarred....

I'd take Bill Clinton over the last 10 years any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
