Which Democrats Should Resign

Ok, here's another thing about politics that I find highly annoying. The Democrats often (always?) act all "holier-than-thou" when it comes to ethics. Sure, there are plenty of Republicans who cross the line, and I'm sure that pretty much every career politician has crossed the ethical line on multiple occasions. What's obvious to me, though, is the ones who get caught should at least be required to resign. So, let's make a list of Democrats who need to resign. And, I don't mean the crazy stuff the Republicans are saying, like Obama should be impeached because he's a Muslim born in Kenya, that's just stupid. Please give at least one respectable news source explaining the scandal which should cause the Democrat in question to resign. I'll start with two I know off the top of my head.

Charlie Rangel (US Congress, New York 15th)
    Financial and Tax Scandals

Eddie Bernice Johnson (US Congress, Texas 30th)
    Scholarship Nepotism Scandal

If anyone in politics had an ounce of ethics, they'd all resign. If only one side is willing to stand up and say that we will not tolerate ethical lapses in our ranks, then the other party wins by default. The corrupting factor is always the same...Money. Take money out of the equation and ethics will return almost overnight. You can't demand ethics but you can arrange the system so that you take out the temptation to be corrupt. People who resign will be replaced with the next group of people to be corrupted. It's not the people that need to be replaced, it is the system that needs to be replaced.

I don't think changing our government to Communism is the answer. Anyone want to reply on-topic?

I don't think anyone suggested communism either. Public financing was the solution in case it went past you. You wouldn't need to worry about corrupt officials if they weren't taking money all the time. That's pretty much on-topic.

    Moen,

I hate to agree with you but public finance of election campaigns is the only answer. Give each candidate a budget, eliminate special interest groups, and see who can run the most effective campaign with the fixed amount of money. If they can't control their own campaign finances, they are not fit to hold a government office which requires them to balance a budget.

My only concern is that the people in office would spend 4 to 6 years slanting policies towards various industries and then get rewarded after they leave office with a lucrative job. Sort of like military personnel do currently and are rewarded with nice high paying jobs in the defense industry after they retire.

Having opinions that differ from yours isn't really an ethics violation Jack. Got anything better on Mr. Gijalva?

It's ok Jack, I'm not voting for the person who represents my district in Congress either, but as far as I know she hasn't been caught doing anything like Rangel and Johnson. I was just wondering how many more of them are out there that I hadn't heard about or had slipped my mind.

Bill Clinton? He doesn't necessarily hold an office these days but he has become the patriarch of the democrat party. He lied to us all, was impeached, disbarred....

All for trying to get some oral. The right becomes so jealous they tried (unsuccessfully) to impeach him. I think they're just angry because they can't get a female to get that close to their "area".

Barney Frank seems to have no probs getting men near his " area"

It wasn't the blowjob, it was the lying to congress while under oath......

Yeah...that's the excuse they used...lying about a bl*wjob. I know. The Bush klan lies us into pre emptive war for the first time in our history. The right is silent. No impeachment/war crimes trials....nothing...wonder why????.....$$$$$$$$

Check it out for yourself Jack :)

Clinton's Arkansas law license was suspended for five years and he paid a $25,000 fine.
suspended by the Supreme Court in October 2001, and, facing disbarment from that court, Clinton resigned from the Supreme Court bar in November

Oh, well that is so much better? It's still a shameful way to have conducted oneself and a pathetic legacy.
