Can anyone explain this to me? It seems that, with the economy crumbling around his ankles, Obama has chosen to focus his primary attention on keeping the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy alive. He's got nothing better to do?

That's what happens when a dithering, inexperienced novice gets involved with political issues.

It makes very little sense to me. Those who already hate him and coincidentally side with what he is doing here will slam him as usual. Those who support him will scratch their heads and try to figure out why he doesn't just stay out of the legal battle and let it take it's course. My guess is that he cut some deal with the military.

It is odd. Don't Ask, Don't Tell is going to be repealed. It's just a matter of time. Why he is fighting it is odd unless, as Moen said, he cut some kind of deal with the military brass about it.

The gays already in better be careful, though, because the judge's ruling may be reversed and then they might be booted if they go around telling people they are gay. I was saying to my wife tonight that I wonder if Commanders can now ask if someone is gay and then boot them if the ruling is reversed.

9th Circut has ruled I hear, dont know what the ruling was yet.

Edit: DADT has been put back in to place, gay recruits and now non recruits.......wow. A victory for the administration? Did not he run on repealing this?

Well, that's the whole confusing thing about it. Now, just a couple weeks out of the mid-term, he's going to do this? What, are Gays the only demographic he hasn't alienated yet and he wants to make it the perfect trifecta?

Yes, he did. And I just heard B.O. on the radio the other day, say himself that he expected DADT would be repealed in the next two years. But apparently just not yet. What's one more instance of him taking both sides in an effort to appease both sides?

As to why he's doing this.... smoke and mirrors. The elections are less than two weeks away. Why not throw in another distraction for good measure? Nobody could give a rat's ass about this but now was apparently the time to bring it to the forefront. lol Comical.
