I do view this site as only entertainment, always have As to socialism, I have read up on it alot lately. No thanks. If you like it, no problem either. Not for me. I prefer a represenative republic and free mrket capitolism. No biggie. Dont take it personal ( if you have ). I never intended an insult.
If it were me? I rather out myself as a socialist and be proud of it. I would not hide behind the democratic party. Thats just me tho, you can take whatever route you want.
Interesting statement Jack and exactly why this country needs more than two parties (neither whom is worth a sheet in most cases) to represent us.
I'm just dead set against the republican party and everything they try to do. Kermit the Frog would be my write in vote before I ever voted republican. Socialist? I'll take that or anything else when the only other choice is republican. Anybody, anything, any piece of brick, wood, or poo would rank ahead of a republican. I'd vote for Charles Mansion if he ran against them.
The funny part is that I have never claimed to be a Socialist. I can say this without actually hunting through old posts to see if I actually wrote such a thing because I know that I have never been or never want to be a card carrying Socialist. However, I do remember saying that many of our allies have a mix of capitalism and socialism that works for them and would certainly be preferable to the laissez-faire capitalistic model this country wallows in. Lean too much towards capitalism or socialism and you have a system that is only good for a small percent of the population. Capitalism worked for this country for many decades until the greedy wanted it all. It needs some restraints in order for it to be a system that works for the majority not just the 2% at the top. Any attempts at adjusting this dynamic are labeled Socialism. A representative republic wouldn't have the upper 2% buying elections. Corporations wouldn't be equivalent to people and money wouldn't be considered free speech. If that is your idea of a representative republic, no thanks!
You share my distaste for the Republican party as well. This last election, I voted AGAINST 3 republicans. Jan Brewer, John McCain and a local city position....I choose the Libertarian candidates.
