There's not much about the guy that merits respect but why shouldn't he be allowed to run? He's a Chicago guy, everyone knows it.

He has not resided in the city for a year prior to Feb 22 (he was working in washington)

a candidate must meet not only the Election Code's voter residency standard, but also must have actually resided within the municipality for one year prior to the election, a qualification that the candidate unquestionably does not satisfy," the ruling stated.

That is a fairly common requirement. The requirement was made to prevent carpet bagging - a very sound reason. Maybe it should be updated, but just how would you word it? Also, of all the people, I would think that the chief adviser to the president would have the best legal advice in the world and should have been able to avoid this so easily.

Rules are rules and he is not above the law. I agree with a residency requirement, otherwise political parties could place anyone they want on the ballot at any time from anywhere in the country. Rahmbo needs to obey the law.

Heck, the guy was chosen by BO because little things like laws don't matter to him.

Once again, I'm certainly not defending this guy, but if someone has been called to serve in Washington and he was a bona fide resident prior to the call, some concession should be made.

How did Hillary qualify for her senate seat?

Possibly different rules David not sure, or she was resident?

I could not care less who runs for Mayor of Chicago...but I don't think you should get special rules just because you took a job with the President.

I thought I answered this once, but I will go again.

These rules are not federal, but state and local. Each state and even city within a state could be different. As for Hilary specifically, she did live in NY before the elections, but I do not know their time line.

Hillary was "stationed" in NY just to pump up her resume in anticipation of being selected the Dim nominee for the '08 Presidential campaign. Too bad Ted Kennedy double-crossed her and made sure BO got the nod!

Rahm will be the next Mayor, but it will be interesting to see how they can pull this one off. He never should have rented his house out and registered his kids to new schools in DC.

He didn't read the rules apparently and should not be allowed to run for mayor.

You Fd up Rahm. I think McDonald's is hiring.

Not a bit surprised they allowed him back in it. It is surprising that they didn't even attempt to give a reason as to why! The election was forgone conclusion when he said he wanted to be mayor years ago. This scumbag will be mayor for 30 years. Chicagoans are that stupid. Rest assured, they'll all be crying about corruption within 6 months of him getting in.

Is it just Chicagoans or Land of Lincolners Vess? Please don't take this offensively but this went to the Illinois Supreme Court and they ruled on it 7-0. There were Republicans involved in the decision.
Can't wait to hear their reasoning for this as it comes out and as I stated earlier I think he Fd up and should NOT be allowed on the ballot. Hey what do I know.
