Any Ron Paul supporters on CoinTalk? Just trying to find out how popular "the revolution" is here on CoinTalk. I know Ron Paul has quite a following on the internet. __________________________ mother of the bride dresses discount wedding dresses mother of the groom dresses
Ron Paul has some great ideas. But, I think a lot of people (especially lazy liberals) think he's too radical. Imagine THAT!
Libertarianism is great on paper, sounds nice in a speech, but, it just falls completely apart when you have to actually apply it to real people in real situations. I mean, let’s say you own a restaurant and you decide that you don’t want to serve black people. A libertarian philosophy advocates that you have that right because it is your business. It is like taking laissez-faire capitalism and injecting steroids. Just because you own a business, it does not give you the right to behave as if you can dictate civil rights to the rest of the country. Libertarianism is just a poorly thought out black and white approach for dumb people to think that they can understand the solutions to complex problems. No wonder it appeals to the Right.
I've heard Libertarians called a lot of things, but describing them as racist would not be one of them. Perhaps you're thinking more along the lines of a Libertarian Socialist like Noam Chomsky as opposed to a Libertarian Constitutionalist like Ron Paul. But, if you are indeed referring to Libertarian Socialism, then it certainly is "just a poorly thought out black and white approach for dumb people to think that they can understand the solutions to complex problems" as you so aptly put it.
Nobody called Libertarians racists! It was simply one example of any number of ways they could discriminate based on any characteristic they chose. The fact is that the Libertarian philosophy gives people the right to discriminate simply for owning a business. Try and follow along from here on out.
Libertarian philosophy advocates the right to discriminate based on race? I've never heard that before. I'd call that a racist philosophy.
I think that you know very little about Libertarian philosophy and even less about Socialism. So your lack of hearing about something isn't all that surprising to me. Do some reading on both philosophies and then come back and try to debate from an informed position.
Moen, you said that the Libertarian philosophy advocates the right to be racist. Certainly Libertarians can be racist, as socialists can be racists, as democrats can be racist, etc. Please explain what in the Libertarian philosophy (as opposed to any other philosophy) specifically advocates the right to be racist.
I think when you misunderstand something I have posted, intentionally or unintentionally, and even after I've explained what you are misunderstanding, I feel little obligation to participate in the conversation with you until you decide to approach it honestly. See post #6 and read it many times. If this is how you go through life, heaven help you.
Tuck your tail and run, sir. If you're going to make a correlation, you need to provide evidence of such. Regardless, I think it's funny that whenever I read one of your posts, the song "Pop Goes The Weasel" comes to mind.
Strict Libertarianism is not the sole answer any more than strict Liberalism or strict Conservatism but I think this country sure could use a bigger dose of Libertarianism to go along with our overabundance of the other 2.
