Republican official attacked over 'racist' Obama chimp emailBy Jimmy Nsubuga View attachment 160 OFFENSIVE: The picture depicting Barack Obama and his parents as chimps A member of the US Republican party has sent out an email depicting Barack Obama and his parents as chimpanzees. Marilyn Davenport, who is also a Tea Party activist, has refused to resign claiming she was not a racist and was only joking. The email sent by Mrs. Davenport contained a photo of President Obama's face superimposed over a baby chimpanzee, which was sitting next to two adults of the species. The picture came accompanied with the tagline "Now you know why - No birth certificate!", which is a reference to the right wing conspiracy that Obama was not born in the USA. Scott Baugh, chairman of the Orange county Republican party, called on Mrs Davenport to resign after receiving the email, saying that it was "dripping with racism and is in very poor taste".
That picture is in very poor taste but hardly racist. I think it is comical and reminds me of the Three Stooges and certainly not the President of the United States and family. Perhaps the family portrait of the person who posted the picture.
Definitely bad taste but it's kinda disingenuous for dr moen to single out a rep when the dims hold people like Robert Byrd & Al Gore, Sr in such high regard. Or when Harry Reid makes comments about BO using negro dialect or Biden saying he's 'clean" or Slick Willie saying a few years ago BO would be bringing him tea. Congrats to dr moen & the far left fringe, though. They were finally able to find that one Tea Party member demonstrating bad taste.
Is it racism, humor, political satire or something else entirely? You may think the lady is a racist, but could she just be a humorist? Now, will you label me a racist if I post a mockup of George W. Bush with monkey features? Please keep in mind that you don't know my heritage (nor should it matter): View attachment 161
Bigots have been calling black people "Jungle Bunnies", "Gorillas", "Jungle apes" and other, similar epithets for centuries, based on the fact that gorillas and chimpanzees have black skin and wide noses; also that Black people came from Africa. The implication is that the black people were primitive and stupid, or not quite human. In the 1960’s and 1970’s the racists in England would throw bananas on the field when a soccer/football player who was black would come onto the field. There is a history behind jokes, remarks, and cartoons with regard to African Americans bigots and racists relate to even if you or I don’t. That fact that this Marilyn Davenport is an Orange County Republican Committee member and Tea Party activist in a position of responsibility sending this stuff out over committee email servers probably says that she wasn’t initially afraid of any backlash by sympathetic email recipients. Please don’t fall back on yet another false equivalency comparison as a defense unless youcan actually show me the history of the bigotry.
You mean Robert Byrd, Al Gore, Sr., Harry Reid, Slick Willie, Tom Metzger, John Paul Rogers, Nathan Bedford Forrest, Jeremiah Wright, etc. did not have any objections? PS - Notice the question mark. Do you remember what it means?
It doesnt remind you of Obama, even though its a picture of Obama. I suppose a photo of the moon doesnt remind you of the moon.
You forgot ''Alabama porch monkeys''. I think it looks like a movie poster of 'Escape Fromn The Planet Of The Apes'.
Who cares if she is racist? Everyone is racist, it is more a matter of degree. Anyone who claims not to have a racist bone in their body is nothing more than a politically correct sissy. Furthermore, it was a joke. If you don't like the joke and think she is racist, vote for the other racist on the ballot in the next election. This thread is just another lame attempt by a wackjob democrat to portray all tea party supporters as racists. Such a lame talking point.
Moen, if you don't believe in God (creationism), the opposing prevailing theory is evolutionism whose premise is that humans descended from simians (apes). Do you believe in the evolutionary theory? If you believe in simian evolution, then you believe that mankind's ancestors were apes. That includes ALL mankind whether African, Caucasian, Asian, Aboriginal, etc. Based on simian evolutionary doctrine, the first living thing that could be consided "man" sprang forth from Africa and was descended from apes. Therefore, all humans today could be able to trace their ancestors to Africa (and, specifically) to simian ancestors. By that theory, anyone in America can refer to themselves as "African-American" regardless of the superficial coloring (or the amount of melanin [or lack of]) in their skin. As I've pointed out, all humans came from Africa - at least according to the evolutionists. So, if the lady who disseminated this picture is an African-American, how could she possibly be racist? I subject to you that the lady was, indeed, NOT a racist (according to the theory of evolution) and may have simply been celebrating Obama's (and all humans for that matter) descendency from apes.
Since you didn't respond in any meaningful way to my earlier post, I'll post it again. The history of discrimination and racial epithets is pretty clear and exists today among many in this country whether you admit it or not. I just don't see the same history for whites and neither do you. Playing dumb only reinforces the perception and probably the reality as well. Read it this time.
Lehigh is right. And I've said it before. Everybody is racist. I mean light skinned blacks dont like dark skinned blacks. And vice versa. And I bet your wife clutches her purse a little tighter when a black guy is approaching. And you'd probaly avoid a short cut if it meant driving through an all black neighbothood. Just as a black guy gets nervous when pulled over by a white cop.
Nature trains us to learn from our experiences. Society forces us to make judgments based not on our own experiences but rather the stereotypes we are fed through the media, our segregated lifestyles, and those that benefit from marginalizing a particular group. None of which has anything to do with our innate nature.
Using the word "whites" or "blacks" is soooooooo racist! You are attempting to discern someone's heritage based on the color of their skin which, in and of itself, is racist! Sorry, Moen, every human on earth (according to the evolutionary theory) is African regardless of where their ancestors settled after leaving Africa. So, please don't discriminate by using the terms "whites", "blacks" or any other racist description when referring to people. The lady who disseminated the picture of Obama may have been "melanin-challenged", but she's still of the same heritage as Obama (that is, IF you believe in evolution). Therefore, if she's of the same heritage, you really can't call her "racist". Try to think of the lady as someone who was celebrating her own heritage and celebrating her leader at the same time.
Like I said, "Playing dumb only reinforces the perception and probably the reality as well." The KKK used to say that they were only being proud of their white heritage while they intimidated, lynched, and institutionalized discrimination and segregation. You sound like a kindred spirit.
