(I though I'd start a thread on the current state of Afghanistan. Since so much is going on there this initial post will not be very thorough. In the future I plan on adding info as I find it, and ask others to share anything they find relevant too.)

Nato, led by the U.S. has been fighting a war against the Taliban since October 7, 2001 ...less than a month after Al-Qaeda terrorists attacked America. That was nearly 10 years ago and the war shows no signs of ending.

    War in Afghanistan (2001

The Taliban or "religious students" are an extremist group who took control of most of Afghanistan in the late 1990s. Their rule was short but brutal. They adhere to a strict interpretation of Sharia, or "Islamic law", and applied there version liberally to anyone under their influence.

Below are some links that may interest you. The first has maps and stats on troop deployments. The second has a map of where U.S. drones have struck and where Islamic militant strongholds are. The third is an article about a drone pilot.

There are lots of additional stories and links found in each link above. I will add additional information and links in later posts. After nearly ten years of war I'm still finding new information lol

We've given them a decade. Time to leave and let them at it. Just keep the satellites and missiles trained on them to 'observe' their progress. ;)
