I only understand a few of the bets on craps. Pass, don't pass, field...that's about it. Not my thing.
See, a person can learn something new every day. All along, I thought craps WAS your thing. Hmmmmm... go figure.
I am not sure about that. Area 51 is a classified area. I would not doubt that there are deadly force (shoot to kill) signs there. I dont think the same rules apply to the HAARP station. The Jesse Ventura show never showed any such signs. I also would be surprised if Area 51 had open houses for the public.
I admit my ignorance when it comes to the game of Craps. I presume your statement had something to do with that game?
The most common bet on a craps game is called the PASS LINE. The first roll is the come out roll. If you roll a 7 or 11 on the come out roll with a PASS LINE bet, you win. If you roll a 2, 3 or 12, it is craps and you lose. If you roll a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, it is called the point. On each subsequent roll, the idea is to roll the point number again before you roll another 7 which ends your roll. However, there is an alternative way to bet in craps called the DON'T PASS LINE. These bettors are referred to as DON'T bettors and are generally DISLIKED by everyone at the table because they are betting against the other players and betting with the house.
I see. I will assume that the DON'T bettors sometimes win which actually makes it a good bet for them. "Like" or "dislike" really doesn't matter, does it?
In the long run, they all lose. You are aware that casinos are rigged aren't you? Gambling is adult entertainment, nothing more. But we understand that there is always a DON'T bettor in the crowd. The fact that you don't mind that stigma speaks volumes about you.
As long as betting on the DON'T line gives me as good a chance of winning had I bet on the PASS line, I wouldn't mind taking it. I mean, why not? I don't see what the "stigma" is; everyone at the table is there to try to win, correct? What do you mean the casinos are rigged? As in some nefarious cheating going on?
I thought you meant there was cheating going on when you said "rigged". I understand the house edge. That's why whenever I win, I walk away.
I enjoy blackjack. I'm not a big gambler. If I leave the casino with an extra $50 I'm happy. My friend has gotten me interested in slot machines and I seem to do pretty good on those. If I feel a losing streak coming on, I leave.
It is possible to beat blackjack, but when you do, you are kicked out shortly thereafter. Try poker, it is the only game that can be consistently beaten. The reason is because you are not playing against the house, you only need to overcome the house rake.
I've thought about trying poker. I have a friend who's pretty good at it. He's offered to teach me, but like I said, I'm not a big gambler. I enjoy the table games and slots simply for the entertainment factor. I don't go into a casino EXPECTING to lose, but if I lose, well, it's not a big deal to me. I treat a night at the casino like I would a night going to the movies. My friends and I usually eat dinner at the casino, sometimes catch a show, drink a few drinks and do a little gambling.
I think you have it right. Gambling is adult entertainment. IMO, Vegas is only second to NYC in quality of restaurants. My favorite is Joel Robuchon at the MGM. What other restaurant will send a limousine to come pick you up, complimentary.
Las Vegas law permits house players to play with house money at the poker tables, but they must identify themselves if asked. thats why I never play poker in Vegas. In AZ, it is against the law at the Indian Casinos. Question Lehigh, can't you get the house edge down to less than 1% with proper play at Blackjack, Craps and Baccarat ?
Exactly. I certainly do love Vegas (I've never been to NYC so I can't comment on the restaurants). Vegas certainly has some GREAT restaurants for sure. What I like about Vegas is that you'll be in a small area of a casino, tucked back in a corner where no one ever goes and, lo and behold, you come across a world class restaurant that isn't jam-packed with tourists, but has incredible fare cooked by a world class chef. Simply amazing. Speaking of the limousine, now that's a class act all the way. I'm unfamiliar with Joel Robuchon, but kudos to them for treating you right!! You're in Atlantic City, right? Do you make it to Vegas very often? I've never visited Atlantic City, but I've heard tell that there are areas right around the casinos that are "unsavory" to say the least. Is that true? I thought I read something that Atlantic City was trying to get rid of homeless people by buying them a bus pass to anywhere in the U.S. if they would just leave. Is there any truth to that (not that there's anything wrong with it)? If I were planning a vacation and my choices were Vegas and Atlantic City, what does Atlantic City offer that Vegas doesn't?
Only if you play with standard decks and full shuffle dealers. Those shuffle machines are rigged IMO.
