Anthony Weiner is Resigning Today (June 16, 2011)

At least we know it is a safe Democratic seat.

 

That is not how redistricting works. Gerrymandering is certainly an inevitability but Democrats will not eliminate a seat in a district as large as the New York 9th. Not that they couldn't do it but why would they?

 

The New York 9th is larger than other districts? That is interesting. Maybe that is why they need to significantly change it. BTW, the last I checked, all districts had to be about the same size - by law with only a select few being smaller (Wyoming, for instance). New York now averages 665,000 per rep, but that is too few people. With the new allotment, they will average 715,000 and when split, each district will have real close to 715,000.

 

Yeah...gotta get rid of the loudmouth, effective liberal. One that can attract attention from the masses and actually represent regular folks. Can't have that. Clinton BJ nonsense repeated once more. He got a BJ! He lied about! Impeach him! Weiner tweeted nekkid photos to other girls! Get rid of him!
In the mean time, the right wing defends George Bush and crew, by saying "well, everybody lies". It was understandable. Newt? He lied the same way Clinton did, at the same time he railed against Clinton and his BJ. That's ok though. 3 marriages? Family values? We can excuse him.
Anybody that votes republican should be sent to Guantanimo for re-education for about 10 years (without trial, of course!)

Once at a Lehigh-Lafayette football game which is the oldest rivalry in college football, a banner plane flew over with a banner that read "Lehigh Sucks". A few minutes later, another plane flew over with a banner that read "Lafayette Swallows". It was better than winning the game.

 

Quite true. No balz. Country is in great shape, is it not? (if you're rich).

That does not sound like your "safe seat" was very safe. Maybe they are sending a message?
