Oh I AM part of it. I am out to get you and all of the rest of your ilk. My brainwashing has made me a soldier of the Left wing anti-News Corp machine that will ultimately grind your whole lot into the dust of history....Or News Corp is actually just another power hungry corrupt media conglomerate hell-bent on doing whatever they please regardless of laws or morality............Naw, I am really out to get you. At this point, it seems like many are trying hard to give Fox a good case of guilt by association with nothing much to go on (that I have seen) other than they are owned by the same multinational corp. If Walkers Prawn Cocktail Crisps were found to be laced with arsenic instead of prawn bits , it doesn't mean Quaker Oats aren't still safe to eat. I am sure if there is any real dirt on Fox itself, it will be uncovered. I can't even imagine the sheer number of man hours that are going into it at this point for political reasons. There are probably piles of liberals all over the country passing out from the effort only to be replaced by new piles as needed. lol Not much point in reaching to try and jump the gun.

 

Interesting, but after 61 posts (22 of them yours), the only facts you have posted are the mediamatter mission statement (now outdated), "London police arrested Rebekah Brooks, Rupert Murdoch's former British CEO", and "I go on vacation for a week". Loverly!

 

I don't make a distinction between Fox and News Corp. Why would anyone make that distinction? They are run by the same executives and their checks are cut from the same bank account. There is no difference.

 

My company is owned by Carl Icahn who owns many other companies. We have no idea how those other companies conduct business. Unless you have direct proof that these tactics were ordered by a corporate entity, your belief is a conspiracy theory. Do you actually believe that Murdoch authorized these activities?

How about you put your money where your mouth is. Let's wager that this stupid scandal does not hurt FOX News. They are the top rated Cable News Channel and will remain so for at least the next year. C-Note sounds fair. What do you say?

 

I am reasonably sure that you are a state employee. Therefore, you are run by the same executives and your checks are cut from the same bank account as Rod Blagojevich, Otto Kerner, Dan Walker, George Ryan, etc. I don't make a distinction between you and your state government. It is simple really. Even if it goes to the top (and that is a big if), what happens in one division in one country does not mean similar things are done in a different division in another country. Just because the National Enquirer of the UK is corrupt does not prove that Fox News is corrupt.

Let's say some people at one Planned Parenthood office do some disgusting, despicable, revolting things...it doesn't mean that another Planned Parenthood necessarily does disgusting and despicable and revolting things. Even if the person at the top of Planned Parenthood knows what is going on at that one Planned Parenthood, it doesn't prove that the same things are going on at another Planner Parenthood.

I worked for the same company that ran Abu Ghraib. But that doesn't mean the hospital I worked at was stacking naked Iraqis in a pyramid...even though we had access to plenty of perfectly stackable Iraqis.

Plausible deniability. You dont think Murdoch or even Icahn knows what goes on in each entity they own. Believe me I am not defending any conspiracy, but as I stated before, Murdoch doesnt seem like the ''I dont want to know how my newspapers get stories.'' kind of guy. I'm not talking about Fox. Just the owner. He's a sharp guy. And I bet he wants to know everything about everything he has. Not in a memo, but just the same. Fox's cable news doesnt really have investigative reporters so I doubt they are involved. Moen is just lumping them in with this mess.

 

I would believe that certain types of misdeeds were confined to local offices but when you have one division writing million dollar checks to bribe police officials, that kind of thing can't be hidden from the company heads. That is just asking me to believe that the people at the top are complete idiots. It's just a matter of time before these people start rolling over on the higher ups. We are just in the initial stages of this investigation at this point. There are still a lot of shoes to drop and I don't believe those shoes will clear anybody.

 

People before profits? That's very poor corporate sense you know. Profits...profits...and more profits......then.....we'll concentrate on something more, like MORE profits. Friggin' hilarious if anyone believe people will be before profit. Can you say default? Crash and burn?

 

The only million dollars I had heard of was for a lobbying effort. What police officials got million dollar checks? I would agree that would have to go very high up in both the Corp and the Government because no one goes and randomly cashes a million dollar check without damn near everyone in the government knowing about it.

 

"We" are just in the initial stage? Did they ask you to help out? And where did you hear about checks written for millions of dollars? Cops on the take will give up their mothers for movie tickets. And don't compare this to Watergate. They're completely different. Try to stay on the ground.

 

Cops will also provide free security for day old sandwiches, donuts and nachos. That was how I kept me (and the convenience store) safe on third shift. It was against company policy, and I am sure police policy too, but it was the cheapest insurance policy the store could ever have had. lol I try not to underestimate how easily people can be bought and how ignorant bosses can be.

But, million dollars checks to people making probably 5 figures, or low 6 at best, will leave a trail a mile wide...if it happened.

They also reportedly made a similar payment to Max Clifford (Publacist) with similar conditions

Other payments of £100,000 and £20,000 were made respectively to actress Sienna Miller and Andy Gray, the former Sky television football commentator to reportedly ensure they do not go public with their hacking stories

James Murdoch denied suggestions that the payment was meant to keep the scandal secret yet the payment has a confidentiality clause attached!
He was asked if in the interest of justice he would waiver the clause but refused to give a yes or no answer
The payments were also made at a time when the group was still denying widespread hacking and it was also paid out 2 weeks before the Max Mosley decision which was the highest payout in a British court of 60K

Add to this Mr Rupert Murdoch claims that he had no real idea as to what the News of the World was up to but later went on to say that he had been invited to Downing Street for tea with the Prime minister a few days after the election as a thank you for the support he had given through his news papers!

Then we find that up until a few days ago the group was still paying the legal fees of Glenn Mulcaire who was jailed in 07 for phone hacking!

Then they have refused permission for the Legal company (Harbottle and Lewis ) who represented them to give evidence This refusal has now been revoked and they can testify

So far no figures have been given over payments to Police officers

If it found that he did know he could face up to 20 years in jail as could any other member of News corp in the US who knew
