I am not really sure just who is to blame for this mess, but the one thing I did not see here was that there is a solution in the works Officials puzzle over millions of dollars leaving Afghanistan by plane for Dubai And the latest update as it continues today At Kabul airport, exodus of U.S. aid goes on - Checkpoint Washington - The Washington Post
The son of a friend of mine is serving in Afghanistan and posted a picture of a termendous pot field they were passing by. He put this under the picture : 'The United States Marine Corps, Protecting the drug trade since 2001' Very sad.
Afghanistan is corrupt. Not a little corrupt. Completely corrupt. No one should be surprised that pallets of money are flowing out of there. Nation building has not and will not work there. They are not a nation and their people, let alone their leaders, have no history of having a nation. We are wasting our time funneling any money in there that does not go towards killing terrorist organizations. The sooner we come to the conclusion we have killed enough of them and leave, the better.
The Govt. did the same thing in Iraq in 2003 or 4, gave billions to tribal chieftans. Dammit, if we cant encourage democracy, we'll buy it.
The correct course of action in that country is to destroy every piece of infrastructure and kill anything that resists. When a new weed pops up, treat it like the weed that it is and kill it. But that policy which would actually help the security of this nation is politically incorrect.
The US would lose too much money if they clamped down on Afghanistan since the exports fund our covert operations there. The drug business supports our objective over there and facilitates compliance with the drug using, lemming Americans, that think 9/11 was anything but an inside job.
OMG, now you are claiming that the war on drugs is a facade and the drug problem in the US is yet another government conspiracy. BTW, tough for Dems to complain about the expense of the war if it is funded by itself. Are you trying to get into Guiness for the man who believes in the most conspiracy theories. This one is completely ridiculous.
I think the war on drugs is a facade. Why is it we dont touch the poppy fields in southern Afghanistan? Enforcing drug laws is a billion dollar industry. Who involved would want it to end?
That is a very simplistic way of viewing what happened. Under that same logic, the US also created the mujahideen. Neither are true btw.
