Another Obama campaign promise kept. Now that the death knell of the U.S. Military has been heard, how long will it be before the marauding hoards come pouring over the walls? *****He laughs to himself....
Homosexuals may now serve openly in the US Military. Hooray! I would also like to thank the 8 Republicans who voted to repeal DADT (way to go!) and admonish the 15 Democrats who voted against the repeal (shame on you!).
I quite agree applaud and thank All those who voted to repeal DADT (way to go!) and Admonish All those who did not (shame on you!).
Let's see who they were. House Democrats who voted AGAINST repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Boren (OK) Bright (AL) Childers (MS) Critz (PA) Davis (AL) Davis (TN) Marshall (GA) McIntyre (NC) Ortiz (TX) Peterson (MN) Rahall (WV) Ross (AR) Skelton (MO) Tanner (TN) Taylor (MS) Notice any patterns, similarities…?
Just so that we're clear, let's now see who the 8 Republicans were that voted to repeal DADT. The Republican senators who voted yes on the repeal with the Democrats were: Richard Burr of North Carolina, Mark Kirk of Illinois, John Ensign of Nevada, Scott Brown of Massachusetts, George Voinovich of Ohio, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, both of Maine. Hum? I see another pattern in this great Republican victory.
They are all old white guys? I have no idea if they are or not but the odds are probably with me. Long overdue on the repeal, that is for sure.
I think peoples perceptions have changed overall and the politicans just realized that they were behind the mindthought of the nation at large but this is coming from a guy who thinks the only thing open about a politican is his hand waiting for a payoff.
What a shame: Obama's Justice Department is opposing full severance pay to homosexuals dismissed from the military under DADT: http://news.yahoo.com/govt-opposes-full-severance-pay-military-gays-210504222.html
Wow. What a major accomplishment. They repealed a bill. Wow. So amazing. Next up, I hope they reserve units strictly for transvestites, bi-curious, animal lovers and soldiers with a balloon fetish. Nobody should be left out! Even if situations arise that cause somebody to lose momentary focus in a combat situation and lives are lost. For the sake of being PC, lets call it the Sex Act of 2011 and make it mandatory to disclose their every desire when signing up. That should really help the military. Shouldn't cause any *added* stresses at all!!! Have to say though, given the lack of objectives that come with every military adventure over-seas the past 10 years, I can see why there'd be the desperation to appease everybody they can nowadays. We're witnessing the beginning of the end......
The one thing you said that actually makes sense is, "Nobody should be left out!". Every able bodied American that wishes to serve their country SHOULD have the same right to do so regardless of what fundamentalists Christians think of gay people. By your standard, should we allow rapists to serve in the military? We already know 99.999% or some actual virtually all inclusive number like that of rapists are men. Maybe we should ban all men from the military eh? If you can put gays in the same category as transvestites, the bi-curious, and animal lovers when those categories aren't really any more prevalent in the gay community than they are in the heterosexual community, I see no reason not to include all men in the category of rapists considering the vast, vast majority of rapists are men. Why not let serial killers into the military too. Heck, at least they have had practice and they are virtually all men too. How about cannibals? They can clean up the battlefield and nobody kills like a someone that is hungry right? The point is that you can't pin anything on a gay soldier that I can't turn around and counter with something just as unacceptable for straight soldiers. Maybe the real problem is simply your prejudice?
