Unbelievable. As if we don't have enough wars on our hands. Thanks Obama. http://www.voanews.com/english/news/Obama-Deploys-Troops-to-Central-Africa--131895118.html
Humanitarian reasons. Transparency. It's a choice between Isolationism, or at least a significant detachment from the World... or diplomacy with a gun... the gun in case you need to defend yourself or others.
The BBC's article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-15317684 ...since it doesn't hurt to have multiple sources of information, if only to help verify the info.
Unbelievable is who is defending the LRA in Uganda....Your buddy Rush. I guess if you massacre people in the name of Christianity, it's OK with the Right-wingers in this country. http://mediamatters.org/blog/201110140018
Now, here's something you don't see every day U.S. drops bomb on Yemen: http://news.yahoo.com/yemen-us-strike-kills-local-al-qaida-media-083407970.html
I'll give credit to Obama for being one of the most hawkish presidents in modern history. He capped a couple of Somalian pirates, he's keeping it rolling in Iraq and Afghanistan, he's bombed the hell out of Libya, just dropped a bomb on Yemen and now is sending boots on the ground to Central Africa. Not to mention blowing bin Laden's head off and continuing the practice of rendition to foreign countries where suspects can be tortured. Obama, you old hawk, you.... Were these the "dreams from your father"?
Yes and no. It's a pumpkin I carved about 5 years ago. Of course, times have changed in those 150 years, and party affiliation from then isn't as important to me as it appears to be for you.
It's interesting to me how perspectives are influenced by bias. Not saying I don't have any bias myself, only that it's interesting to see how people delude themselves, in this case reinforcing their negative views of Obama by villifying any action he takes. That's your baggage, not mine. I approve of this message - Abe
I just hope that this time we stay well out of it, with our defence cuts I doubt if we could send a squad
