Hahah. Yeah. I started using the word vitriol a lot after the Giffords shooting. Sheriff Dupnik used it to describe the conservative viewpoint. But, since then it's been the perfect word to describe the liberal viewpoint and, as you can see, has worked out very well. Expect to see me using it a lot more in the future.

Sure I have some hard-liner qualities! Everyone does! I'm a fiscally responsible conservative and you're a pathetic liberal. I think we shall continue to have opposing points of view until one day, perhaps, you wise up and mature a little more.

Now, the main reason I'm against socialism is because it's a failed system of government. If you want to keep walking down that path blindly, be my guest. I won't be following, thank you very much.

Can you please define Socialism? I mean not to play the "define" game you love so much but I figure if you are against something, you should be able to define it right? Please have at it.

Let's see. You've asked me to define "socialism". How do I begin? OK, I've got it (and I learned this from you and IQ<1). I'll dance around the issue, change the topic, twist the words, morph the discussion and then refuse to answer. Hey, you guys are on to something here! This is so much simpler than having an honest debate!

BS! First of all, he gave you an immediate response after you asked him to define what he considered poor. Next, I've asked you repeatedly what you think Socialism is and you've admitted that you don't know but apparently you are against it. Now all your arguments have come back to haunt you and you play this silly game. Shame on your lack of personal morals and lack of integrity. You should be embarrassed.

Watch this guys! He'll play the define game but when it is turned on him, he suddenly thinks that there is no point to defining something. Sad, just sad!

Nonsense! I'm just playing your game. I never realized how fun it is, but I'm beginning to see the joy you receive in playing it. It's so much easier than just being sincere. Shall we play your game some more?

You can give me hundreds (or more) examples of people who have made successes of themselves without the benefit of being born into privilege, and I could provide billions that were not as fortunate.

I'm saying it can't be done by everyone. If it could be, why would so many wish to live in suffering? And if everyone was as successful as my example, what do you think that would do to the costs of everything? You've been lucky when it comes to being successful, hard work was involved I'm sure, but I take the fortunes of your circumstances into account where you apparently don't.

 You see your self as "sincere"? No doubt you have been sincere on occasion, but I wouldn't define you that way myself. I would say it's closer to "impish" in nature, it's more likely you'd use sarcasm than sincerity. BTW, I'm not using "impish" in a derogatory manner here... it's a trait, or characterization, of your posts... and I don't view that negatively. IMO, it's one of your better qualities.

In order to move this along, and since many of you may still not understand my definition of what "poor" is, I'll attempt to clarify it now. But first I want to say that, while it may have been more prudent to state my definition of "poor" more clearly when Coin first asked ...and saved us all a lot of bickering... I had my reasons. That isn't to suggest that I didn't have a definition. Far from it. It was for the reason that, IMO, Coin was being impish, and didn't deserve my definition. I believed his intent was to have me give my definition, then post bs "facts and figures" that would suggest my definition was incorrect. I wasn't far off on my assumptions lol

I consider someone to be poor when they can't afford the basic necessities; food, clothing, shelter.

But there's more to it than that. Most of the poor I know eat ok... but not satifactory. That is to say their nutritional intake is less than desireable. This leads to a general state of unhealthiness that leads to disease, pain and suffering, and eventually to an early death. Clothing is probably the least 'necessity', in that it is the most available and easiest to aquire. IMO, very, very few of the poor are hurting significantly for want of clothing. Shelter is also relatively easy to come by, compared to food. A significant amount of the poor do not have adequate shelter though, and deaths from exposure occur frequently. These deaths are one of the more documented aspects of a poor person's fate. The lack of sufficient food, the degenerative diseases caused by that lack of nurishment, the long years of pain and suffering... those aspects are easily overlooked.

So it is pointless to pay any attention to any questions, points, posts, threads, comments, or other drivel that leaks out of your mouth? Way ahead of you dude! Way ahead of you. So next time you whine about anyone that doesn’t bother to respond to your posts, you know why they are doing so. You simply have nothing to say and certainly nothing worth listening to. Thanks for clarifying.
To be honest, I think you're just a little coward and never could run with the big dogs.

Now, how about a definition of the working poor. IMO, the working poor are people who have chronic (continuous) struggles to survive, as a result from the lack of adequate food, shelter, and/or clothing (as detailed in a previous post).

Many in here believe anyone can achieve success by working hard. IMO, that is far too narrow-minded a belief and shows an amazing lack of understanding for basic human living conditions and lives. While I have no problem agreeing that people should work hard to better their living situations, I disagree that hard work alone ensures success. It doesn't take into account circumstances, or the effects chronic poverty has on a person.

The working poor are people who struggle every day to survive. As with the poor, they generally don't have adequate health care, but are generally better off than the poor. Their jobs typically depend on transportation that fails them from time to time, causing their work situation to be more transient than the middle-class's, and the working poor's need for employment is greater... they don't typically have any significant savings to fall back on during a crisis (such as the loss of income from a job or medical emergency).

The working poor live pay-check to pay-check and are focused on weathering the latest crisis more often than the idea of succeeding, as some here suggest anyone can do. That is not to say the working poor do not want to succeed financially ...hell, many dream of a day they can be that comfortable ...only that the circumstances of their daily lives prevents them from making a determined, and sustainable attempt.

And those to drug impaired to function should get free housing and food. However, not within the public.

Yesterday, at Church, we had our annual Giving Tree delivery day and if you had spent the day with me you might be surprised at how some "poor" people live. Here's the set-up: For the last 6 months my wife & I (we chair the outreach committee at our church)have been working with area charities to make sure local families don't have to do without at Christmas time. This year we had over 300 people and 3 charities to deliver to. My 2 daughters & I made 6 home deliveries ourselves and I was amazed at the I-pod/I-phones, big screens, X-boxes and computers these folks all seemed to have (not to mention the overwhelming cigarette smell that greeted us ay every door). Don't get me wrong, we do this because we enjoy helping people but c'mon. These people are supposed to need the basics- food, clothing & gifts for the kids for Christmas. Don't get me wrong, there were many people in need but the vast majority seemed to be just fine....bad decisions rather than bad luck. I could sit here & write a novel if we had the time. Suffice it to say, we didn't have any tent or forest dwellers just a lot of people who blow their money apparently.

I don't really know what is going on in your head, but your assumptions are waaaaaaaaaaay off. I simply wanted to debate the point with you, but you didn't seem to want to. Oh, well.. what is one to do? As far as I'm concerned, the matter is over and I don't want to waste any more time talking to you about it.

That's not a very nice thing to say to someone. Personally, I don't think you're a coward, you're just misguided and usually misinformed. But, you can think anything you want of me. It's no skin off my nose. I have some opinions of you that I keep to myself since they're better kept off a public forum.
