EXACTLY!!!! ding ding ding. Yes they can be influenced by many things. And what’s more, they aren't all that good at hiding those influences once they have been taken into custody. And what is this guy saying? The same exact message you hear from Fox and RW radio. Let me ask you. Why didn't this guy go shoot up some Fox News station?
He's also saying the same thing that I hear on my college campus and in emails from my friends (some of whom do not watch television) and that you can see on Facebook. Just because you only see the world as "us against them" does not mean that he or anybody else does. Even mentally unbalanced people can think for themselves.
Are your friends unstable psychopaths that hear voices? That is the point I keep making and you seem to be ignoring for some reason. A normal person can hear the likes of someone like Beck and agree or disagree but it is those that teeter on the edge of sanity that take this stuff in and believe it and in cases like this, act on it. It is simply irresponsible to think that you can spew hatred and fear and not inspire some of these crazies. I can't actually think of too many ways to make a buck in a more socially irresponsible way.
Then explain Rachel Maddow, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Joy Bejar, and any other of a myriad of celebrities who lean left. Do you really think that the "Huffington Post" is real news? The point that *I* am trying to make, which *you* are conveniently ignoring is that hate is not the sole property of the Right. I personally think that Jane Velez Mitchell is a pointless and nasty example of the degeneration of the human race. Other people swear by her. I think that she spews hatred from every pore, as do the others I mentioned before her. But the point is that it is just as possible for those people to inspire unstable people to act as it is for Beck and others. Mental instability doesn't choose which ideology will influence it, sometimes all it takes is a bunch of howling dogs.
Perhaps the White House shooter is mad at Obama for supporting the Flea Party protesters who say hateful, vitriolic things like this: http://youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=/&gl=US#/watch?v=RtPfUGTuZ0I
Reverse the situation... maybe have a few of the left-leaning people on TV post head-shots of right-wingers with blood-soaked "X"s on 'em, grab a gun, chamber a round and say "Take 'em out!"... ...then, if anything happens... if some right-winger gets shot by an insane person we can blame the insane person and leave it at that... ...ala Sarah Palin... and her defenders.
Are they selling fear? Are the talking about people coming to your home and pulling you out and killing you? Of course not. Beck does. The RW'ers do nothing but talk about the destruction, literally, of this country and instill fear of Obama, the government, gays, women, you name it. There is a substantial difference between the message coming from the Right and the message coming from the Left. I doubt that any crazy is going to start shooting people over Rachel Maddow laughing at Herman Cain. If you really believe that the messages coming from the Right are the same as the messages coming from the Left, well I really don't know what to make of you. I don't know Jane Velez Mitchell.
Since she obviously leans more to the right than left, I am sure you can come up with you share of insults. BTW, Jane Velez Mitchell is on CNN, but my guess is that is too far to the right for you to watch.
One side sells hate, the other sells fear. If you can't see that there is little difference between the two (and of the two, hate can be more virulent) then I don't know what to make of you.
You know, I would give you the benefit of the doubt if incidents like the one we are discussing happened to Right-wing targets but I don't see that happening and neither do you. So all I can conclude is that if the Left is broadcasting a message of hatred it isn't very effective while the message of fear from the Right seems to be having an impact. Agreed?
You can’t make this stuff up. Idiot occupier holds moment of silence and solidarity for person that shot at the White House. Guess what the idiot crowd shuts up for a few seconds until a idiot women belts out “occupy the police department” then the idiot crowd gives her a round of applause. Idiot occupier: “I think we should have a moment of silence and solidarity for the person that they said was from the Washington, DC, Occupy, that maybe why did he feel he needed to shoot the White House window today. So I think we should hold a moment of solidarity for the White House and for the guy that shot at the White House today.” LIBERALISM on display. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/ken-sh...nors-suspected-white-house-shooter-moment-sil
Wasn't it reported the shooter was a member of the DC OWS? Whose rhetoric do you really believe influenced him the most- someone he may or may not have heard in the media or the constant onslaught he was subjected to in the camp?
You mean like Eric Cantor? You mean like Bush #43? You mean like Bush #43? You mean like Bush #43? You mean like Bush #43? You mean like Bush #41? You mean like Ronald Reagan? BTW, I wonder why this radical "right winger" attempted to spread his message to that ultra right media mogul Oprah Winfrey?
Actually, I was on the road yesterday & listened to NPR for hours...that's where I heard these facts. Now what?????
Boy, did I call that one. Fox Falsely Dubs Alleged White House Attacker As "'Occupy' Shooter" November 17, 2011 12:47 pm ET Fox & Friends claimed that alleged White House shooter Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez had been "tied to [the] Occupy" movement, even calling him the " 'Occupy' shooter." In fact, investigators have reportedly "found no connection between him and the Occupy protesters."
