The insurance industry is artificially inflating the jobs in America at the cost of the poor and middle-class. I don't need insurance, but I'm forced to have it for a vehicle... which is a necessity in my area. My family currently pays over $2000 a year for car insurance we neither want or need... some of that money goes to support people like your father. Why should I be forced to support people like him? Why does he find it necessary to rob me of my money?

THAT said, I do know a bit about the people of the industry, some are decent, some are not. As an example: When I bought my first car it cost $250. I went to get it insured, and having never had to before figured $50 a year would be reasonable. One man I knew (from my paper route as a kid and laundromat work as a young man, he owned it)named Mike Lahti sold insurance. He wanted $600. I told him the damn car was only worth $250 and declined. After searching everywhere I could, I found a guy providing the same insurance for $300. Since it was the best deal I could get I bought it... swearing the whole time... but I needed that transportaion. So, the first guy was ripping me off... he was making an additional $300 off me... a poor person... so he could get wealthier. He succeeded, he's a millionaire and recently served a term as a State Representative. The other guy made a modest profit from the sale, and I don't hold that against him... but I do hold it against the mega-influential Insurance Industry as a whole, for succeeding in forcing people like me to buy insurance ...despite that we neither want or need it.

One last thing... when you say things like this...
...you are wrong. I do know what I'm talking about. You have more personal experience though... since your dad made his money in the Industry.

While the bus thing appears to have angered you, I should make it clear that the people I'd want under that bus are the Mike Lahti type and not the other guy I mentioned. I'd also like the heads of the Industry, their lawyers, their lobbyists, the members of Congress who thought it was a lovely idea... I'd like all of them to be under it's wheels too... metaphorically speaking of course. (coughs)

I do have a question though... at Risk Management, what risks was he managing?

    He did?...

...(turns to Moen, in distance)...Hey Moen! ...Apparently David is dumb enough to think you tell me what to say! ...(hears response from Moen in distance) Yeah, I know, right!?! ...(listens as Moen continues... shocked, he turns back to David)...

...Most of that I can't repeat, but it's absolutey true... especially the part about your work-ethics. Why ARE you so lazy anyway? All that free-time, charities, music lessons, computer chatting... why don't you work harder?

Talk about someone being a conspiracy theorist eh? Seems David thinks we are all in cahoots together against him. Paranoia?

I can't speak for David, but I don't think IQ<1 is in cahoots with you. He's more like your mascot. This is what the two of you remind me of (you're like the little guy in the blue suit, being from around Chi-town and all...):

Hey I like that! At 6'-3" I would find it hard to pull off being the little guy and I have never owned a handgun nor have I ever smoked. I did put my hand in my pocket once.

    Oh yeah!

And by the way, I like the little snake. Cute. We found a Decay Brown snake one summer and kept it as a pet for about a year. Dang thing had 15 babies and we had a heck of a time giving the ones that lived to the local elementary schools. I think they still have them. Cutest little things.

Nah, I don't think you guys are in "cahoots" against me, I just think it's cute how you post something & iqless blindly runs with it (and immediately "likes" it). I would imagine you are pleased to have a new sidekick since toms doesn't seem to pop up here anymore. With tomc & iqless hanging on your every word you are free to just "float" the propaganda and they run with it. Without them you were forced to advance the extreme left talking points all by yourself.

Very strange observation coming from either you, rlm or Okie since you guys seem to be involved in a WWF tag-team match against the rest of us. I think I have discribed you guys as boobleheads in the past since you each sit there and nod endlessly at each other's posts. Why is that any different that IQ and I agreeing on many political issues? So I guess I should also think that your behaviors are "cute".

BTW Can you actually cite an example of my "extreme left talking points"? I'd just like to see how my points stack up against what the average person in this country believes. You do this for me and I'll so you why your views are out there on the fringe Rigth-wing compared to the rest of the country.

I don't own a suit. I did wear one once, when I was 10 or so, in a room full of lawyers. I vowed to never wear one again. And hate lawyers always lol (though I won the lawsuit). And Moen's taller than I am (I'm about 5' 11''). And my legs are way bigger... and can kick like you wouldn't believe.

Otherwise you're not even close. ;)

Yeah, this was in our yard this last Summer... our cat found it (it's eating a mouse). I hate accidently killing them when I mow... but they are hard to see sometimes... and some years they are everywhere lol

"Blindly"? Reality check coming ---> I see reality far far better than you do. I "like" posts that I agree with, or think made a significant point, or are generally positive in nature... unless the post also has something in it I can't agree with, or dislike for whatever reason. It also depends on my mood, the behavior's exhibited by the poster, as well as his/her detractors. That you think otherwise, and post comments like this, only discourages my willingness to "like" any of your posts, whether I agree with them or not. Not a real issue with either of us of course... but something you might want to consider giving some thought to if you want any real discussions about topics that you are genuinely passionate about.

I'm just saying you have a lot of free time that could be used to better your families income... like you say about the poor, working-poor, and people in poverty. Yeah, you are relatively comfortable, but to be fair, working hard applies to everyone despite their incomes.

Of course, I believe your free time is deserved, it's been earned... but I wanted to make a point to you about what you've seen in poor-people's homes (the I-Pads, TVs, cigarettes, etc.). Your opinion is that they can work harder and spend less money on frivolous things... and I agree to a point. Where I differ with you may be in that I don't view them as lazy so much as over-stressed people who do the best they can to live in a World where some people berate them for not succeeding as well as they could, not understanding the circumstances that keep those people in poverty.

One thing you'll see a lot of with the poor, working-poor, people in poverty, and even some lower-middle-income people, is hoarding. Stuff most sane people would throw in the garbage is cherished by hoarders, who value just about everything. A lot of the stuff they get is free, thrown away by less-insane people and salvaged by hoarders.

Just about anything has a limited value-time on it as it's manufactured. As an example: Tires and TVs have a value-life of about 5 years. After that they are considered junk and are thrown away by many people. (The rubber in a car tire remains stable for only about 5 years, beware tires over that age, they are not safe. All tires have a year/code on them). Vehicles are similar. A $25,000 car from today will depreciate significantly until it's scrap value is reached, which may take as little as ten years. That's when the poor and working-poor can afford it.

So, I was just trying to make a point that everyone can do better. If you want to call out the poor for not working as hard as they can, they can call you out for the same. All's fair in love and war... and Partisan Lines lol

Yeah, don't worry about my families income, took care of that over the last 25 yrs or so...in fact I only work 3-4 days a week now & am contemplating retiring on my 45th birthday next year if my boss can manage without me.

I know you only say it because it fits the left wing narrative but I don't have any distain for "the poor, working-poor, and people in poverty" and I challenge you to find anything I have ever said to the contrary. Now I have taken issue with some who abuse the system, make excuses for not even trying or buy into the far left's cradle-to-grave dependency scheme, but who wouldn't?

Thank you for the challenge... but why on Earth would I want to show you proof, only for you to dismiss it outright? It's what you'd do, of that I have no doubt. So, what's my motivation? What's the point?

"Left-wing narrative" is your pov on anything that dissents from your pov. When you view a comment as different than your own it always gets that "left-wing" label from you. That's the behavior of an extremist. Extremists don't deserve the same considerations a more moderate person receives... you said that yourself with the torture issue. Why should I even consider something like addressing that particular question when you'd only dismiss it as "left wing" bs?

IMO, the proof is there though... you just have an extremely limited ability to see it. And, of course, you missed my earlier point completely anyway. To be fair I will repeat it for you (why I have no idea, fair isn't something I'd imagine you understand well):

    Everyone can work harder.
