That misogynistic Letterman! Advertisers should have pulled their sponsorships. How dare he call her a slut!

Liberals can do it & justify it to their blind followers...they seem perfectly okay with that for some reason

Letterman is a well-known Republican political figure.

Didn't the uber-lib Letterman also make jokes about a baseball player having sex with Palin's daughter? That may be funny (or normal) to some here but to most it's just plain sick.

Letterman is not a political figure at all; and while Maher and Schultz strongly identify as liberals, neither qualifies as anything like a powerbroker in the Democratic Party. I'm sure the Barack Obama re-election effort is happy to have Maher's million-dollar gift, but I sincerely doubt there is a Democratic congressman who worries much whether Maher criticizes him. A word of criticism from Limbaugh, by contrast, will reduce almost any member of the Republican caucus to abject groveling. See, for example: GINGREY, PHIL.

It's not much a case of the messenger as it is the message and the response to the message.

I'll presume you meant "Limbaugh" and not "Letterman".

Were you being sarcastic in Post #43? It's difficult to tell. Saying that Letterman is a well-known Republican political figure is a misnomer. Post #45 doesn't spell it out, either. Did you mean to say "Limbaugh"?

What I mean is that Letterman is not any kind of political figure. Simply because he says something you disagree with, doesn't mean you get to associate him with any Democrats. I've heard him make countless jokes about Obama. Does that make him a RW political figure? He is a comdian!

Now, now Moen. You can't talk out of both sides of your mouth and make sense. Let's see what you said about Limbaugh in the past:

    ... and here's this one:

So, you said that he was an infotainer and a cheerleader. Certainly you don't believe he's a "political figure", do you? The man certainly has political beliefs, but so does everyone else. That doesn't make him a "political figure". You might as well say that Janeane Garofalo is a "political figure" for the Left. Hahahah....!!! :p

Limbaugh is no more a "political figure" than either Letterman or Maher. They're all "infotainers" and "cheerleaders". So, Limbaugh's comment about "sluts" is no more inflammatory than Letterman's comment about "slutty".

This is just one more example of Left-wing, liberal hypocrisy in action, folks.

Here is an interesting twist to this malarkey. Maher is supporting Limbaugh!

Maybe a look at some facts :D can help in this "debate".

    Limb-bah is a political commentator.
Letterman is a talk-show host and occasionally comments on politics.

Limburger generally talks about serious issues and isn't funny intentionally.
Letterman is a comedian, and rarely serious, but occasionally is sincere.

Limp-burger talked about an intelligent college student addressing contraception issues.
Letterman talked about a not-so-intelligent vice-presidential hopeful who used quirky catch-phrases instead of substance.

Limp-bah!'s intent was to say the student was too sexually active with too many people.
Letterman's intent was to be funny, and not to say that Pailin' was actually too sexually active with too many people.

My verdict: Both are guilty, but Letterman was much less so since his "claim" was in jest, while Limpelstilskin's "claim" was more accusatory.

There are a lot of differences between Mr. Limp-bra and others with a public microphone. I excuse none of them for personal attacks on anyone unless they are making obvious jokes. I believe humor is perfectly within the bounds of public discourse and has been part of this country's culture since the beginning. Laughing at someone never hurt anybody in any real sense unless they were unstable to begin with.

    Limpy is not a comedian.

Well good for him. I agree with Maher on a lot of things but on this one it looks like I and many other Maher fans differ with him. I want to see the Rush Limbaugh show reduced to the point financially and audience-wise where it drowns in Grover's bathtub. I don't expect that to happen this time around, but at some point I think that Oxy Boy, being his own worst enemy, will follow Glenn Beck into oblivion.

Maher is as divisive as Limpy. I think both have the absolute right to make money doing what they do but sometimes money isn't a good enough reason to say some of the things they both say. Glenn Beck so often crossed the line into the dark side, that he became a caricature and lost his audience. Maher and Limpy cross that line too but seem to jump back across to this side quickly enough to keep their seats. Beck's problem was that he couldn't see the line.
