    Not sure which -ism this moronic post reaks of most. Why stop at oil? If the government has the authority to control oil prices why not expand it to every other industry? I'd like to pay less for everything I consume not just gas!!

    It's a matter of National Security, since rising fuel prices are a direct result of the oil industry's manipulations. You want cheaper fuel? Have the oil industry lower the prices. But they don't want to. They want to maximize profits ...no matter what happens to the economy and people of the United States.

    Support the oil industry if you want to. Go ahead and blame Obama for the rising prices. But it's just bs, and you know it.

    Yes, and i think the second thing the ought to cut the price of would be college educations and then autos. But really, after we have bankrupted the oil companies, there won't be any economy left to regulate so who cares what the education and auto would cost.

    Translation: Let the oil industry continue to rape us and stop whining about it.

    Correct, I didn't answer your question. Explain to me why I should? My guess is to avoid confronting the true reasons for high gas prices, which involves supply and demand, both of which are directly manipulated by the oil industry.

    Supply: Who produces the oil that we consume? The oil industry. The amount of oil the oil industry produces is variable. The industry can increase or lower production as it sees fit. Less oil production means more demand, and higher prices. In this way, oil companies can manipulate the price of oil by either increasing or lowering production.

    Demand: Who demands oil? Us. Demand for oil, and in particular the demand for the fuel we use to heat our homes and run our engines, as well as the numerous byproducts of oil production, fluctuates with those prices. Too low a price and people splurge and are happier, but the oil industry does not make as much profit as it could with higher prices and therefore has no incentive to sell it cheaper than it has to. Too high a price and people "go without", that is to say they limit buying the product, in which case the oil industry again loses some potential profits, while people suffer more for it.

    So what the oil industry attempts to do is maximize their potential profitability. They increase prices, and allow for time to tell them whether or not the general public is balking at the new higher price. If the public eventually appears to accept the new higher price, it becomes the new norm, the new benchmark for potential profitability.

    They manipulate the supply of oil and the demand for oil, and therefore the price of oil, to obtain the maximum amount of profit. They use politics, like calling for the government to let them lease protected lands, to increase their profit. They are not interested in lower fuel prices.

    Wealthy people like you don't face the fear of freezing to death in the Winter or have to worry about whether or not they'll have enough fuel in their car to make it to work and back, but you should be able to understand the issues caused by high fuel prices, and who is to blame. But nooooooo, people like you blame Obama and ignore who's truly responsible.

    I love how they won't answer a direct question and then claim that they did and then pat each other on the back and say what a wonderful job they did putting the nastly "libruls" in their place. The worlds "Rightest" circle jerk for sure.

    Here is every post you have made since I asked my question. Would you care to point out just which of these says that the democrats I(i.e.BO) were in charge of the EPA et al? But then that is another question that I do not expect to see an answer .

    Are you interpreting the post where you lied about the drilling as answering my question?

    Yep! And I even know where the bear ........., but that still does not show why you think drilling increased while the records show it continues to drop. Or even why you blame the Republican house (for 1 1/3 year) when the democrats control everything for about as long and still control all meaningful bureaus, departments, tzars, etc. and most importantly, the presidency. However, I guess I really expect such when you are wearing those liberal blinders.

    There are none so blind as those who will not see. In 1981 we had >4500 active wells. In 2008, we had over 2000 active wells. In 2009 we dropped below 900 wells. Yep, he has really increased the drilling. I must add that by the end of 2010, we were up to almost 1700, but that is way less than 4500. Yet, somehow you state;
    So now in addition to defining words, you are trying to tell me that 1700 is greater than 4500? And that menas I have blinders? I guess my "southern education" just does not understand your idiocy.

    So between 1981 and 2009 the number of wells in production fell by over 3600 wells, but in the year 2009 to 2010 the number of wells in production increased by over 700?
    Now that says to me someone has finally got the idea to start drilling more rather than simply allow all the wells to go out of production.
    It is the reversal of a very dramatic decline in the number of working wells.
