What I get from all this bs is that the republicans do not want Obama to ever mention Bin Laden's death again lol Yet, if Jr. had suceeded in causing Bin Laden's death, the republicans would be citing it for decades ...not that that is hypocritical in any way, shape, or form of course... What a bunch of whining losers lol
Obama's foriegn policy is no different then the one that Bush followed. Neither of them made it. Bin Laden was taken out for the Saudis allowed it either for they made a deal for us to do what they want during Arab Spring or they just playing politics themselves with the terrorist machine they made to have it stay like the dog of war it is and not to be the master.
OBAMA FACING BROAD CRITICISM FOR 'POLITICIZING' BIN LADEN RAID President Obama faced mounting criticism Tuesday for allegedly politicizing the anniversary of Usama bin Laden's death, with Sen. John McCain scolding the commander in chief and former New York Gov. George Pataki going so far as to call on Obama to apologize. The president on Tuesday, in a surprise announcement, arrived in Afghanistan for a meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, a visit with U.S. troops and later a speech to the nation. Bin Laden's death is expected to come up in that speech, though it is not expected to be the focal point. The trip comes as the criticism of his handling of the anniversary heats up. Earlier, current and former Navy SEALs reportedly had criticized the president for using the elite unit's deeds as "ammunition" in his reelection bid. "You know the thing about heroes? They don't brag," Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Obama's rival in the 2008 election, told Fox News. The Obama campaign touched off the heated debate over the historic raid with a web video Friday that touted Obama's decision-making prowess in approving the mission, and questioned whether Mitt Romney would have done the same. Romney said Tuesday that "of course" he would have approved the raid if given the choice. "I certainly would have taken that action myself," Romney said. "I think politicizing it ... and trying to draw a distinction between himself and myself was an inappropriate use of the very important event that brought America together, which was the elimination of Usama bin Laden." Pataki, who was governor during the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, said he was "appalled" by the president's political treatment of the raid. "You don't celebrate your brilliance when it's because we have brave young Americans out there, putting their lives on the line," Pataki told Fox News Tuesday. "I think it's wrong, I think it should stop and I think the president should apologize." Even the president's former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman has warned about allowing the raid to be used as a campaign tool. "The decision that he made and obviously the result stand alone in terms of the kind of call presidents have to make and he made it. I do worry a great deal that this time of year that somehow this gets spun into election politics," Adm. Mike Mullen said in an interview with NBC News. "I can assure you that those individuals who risked their lives -- the last thing in the world that they want is to be spun into that, so I am hoping that that doesn't happen." Britain's Daily Mail also published criticism from current and former SEALs. Ryan Zinke, a former SEAL commander and current GOP state senator in Montana, told the newspaper that using the SEALs as "ammunition" was "predictable." Obama, though, has defended his campaign ad and denied using the anniversary for "excessive celebration." At a press conference Monday, Obama also challenged Romney on a past statement in which he said it's not worth moving "heaven and earth" to catch one person -- a reference to bin Laden, though Romney later clarified the remark. "I'd just recommend that everybody take a look at people's previous statements," Obama said Monday. "I assume that people meant what they said when they said it." He continued: "I said that I'd go after bin Laden if we had a clear shot at him, and I did. ... If there are others who have said one thing, and now suggest they'd do something else, then I'd go ahead and let them explain it." There ya go , proof of republicans whining "boo hoo" LOL McCain's comment in particular was amusing... like he never used his "hero" status politically during his campaign LOL So far, I've seen and heard of Obama mentioning the anniversary on a couple of different occasions... but I've heard republicans complaining about those couple of occasions non-stop, day and night, for a week now. What does that say to me? That republicans want Obama to never speak of the death of Bin Laden, because they themselves can't say they were able to able to do it. Spin away righties! You're all just proving how nuts you all are! LOL
Good article in Time about his death that brought out a couple of things I did not know. Even Time recognized that if Clinton or Bush had the new military and intelligence capabilities that came in the decade after 911, they would have been able to kill Bin Laden too (in 1998 or at Tora Bora respectively). I also did not know that Biden voted against the raid.
Indeed. I think Obama has politicized the killing so much it's turning people away from him. He and his handlers screwed this one up, big time. So, yeah, I really enjoy this "public fight about bin Laden's death". Next? PHOENIX, May 2, 2012- On Tuesday, the political group, Veterans for a strong America, released an ad saying, “Why does Obama take so much credit for killing Osama Bin Laden?” One year ago, Operation Neptune Spear resulted in the killing of Osama Bin Laden. The Al-Qaeda terror leader had been hiding in Abbottabad, Pakistan, killing. One year later, President Barack Obama is launching “Operation Spike The Football”, as a tough re-election campaign. The first attack is President Obama's political ad attacking Mitt Romney, claiming that presumptive Republican nominee wouldn’t have ordered the kill to take out Bin Laden. The ad, narrated by former President Bill Clinton states that Obama took the “harder and the more honorable path,” in killing the terror leader. The ad then displays a banner of text reading, “Which path would Mitt Romney have taken?”Ever since Osama was announced dead, Obama has run around on a victory lap claiming that it was his leadership that ultimately killed Bin Laden. When in fact, Obama only authorized the operation to take place; he was not there. The troops killed Bin Laden. Obama and the White House haven’t given credit to where credit is due. The Navy SEALs. Unfortunately for Obama, serving and former Navy Seals aren’t keeping quiet about his political victory lap, as they’ve come out against Obama. "I think every president would have done the same. He is justified in saying it was his decision but the preparation, the sacrifice - it was a broader team effort," a former Navy SEAL and Team 6 assault leader is quoted as saying the Daily Mail Online, "The President and his administration are positioning him as a war president using the SEALs as ammunition. It was predictable." Another serving SEAL Team operator says about the president:"Obama wasn’t in the field, at risk, carrying a gun. As President, at every turn he should be thanking the guys who put their lives on the line to do this. He does so in his official speeches because the speechwriters are smart. But the more he tries to take the credit for it, the more the ground operators are saying, “Come on, man!” It really didn’t matter who was president. At the end of the day, they were going to go.’ Even the far-left Editor-in-Chief of the Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington, slammed Obama for making the OBL raid political, saying, ‘...to turn it into a campaign ad is one of the most despicable things you can do.’ (emphasis mine)To top off Obama’s inaccurate victory lap, according to the CNSNews’s database on Afghanistan war casualties, 69% of war casualties in the country have happened under Obama’s watch (emphasis mine) since taking office in January 2009. (Now, that's a statistic I was unaware of. Perhaps I should replace my avatar with the Obama logo dripping blood like I once used during his slaughter of Libyans). View attachment 444 That’s nearly 1,275 of the total 1,844 deaths since Operation Enduring Freedom started in October 2001. It isn’t clear yet if Obama’s choice of taking all the credit for the Osama Bin Laden raid has resonated with the American electorate and has actually resulted in support for the president. However, what does remain clear is that Obama’s victory dance isn’t going to end anytime soon. It will continue to be political fodder in the months ahead of November. Obama isn’t going to let Americans forget that he was the president that ordered the killing of the man who massacred 3,000 Americans on September 11 as they go to vote. At any rate, it is "despicable" to see the President use the men and women that protect us everyday as political ammunition in his reelection bid. http://communities.washingtontimes....eals-hit-obama-making-osama-bin-laden-raid-p/
Good points, Stu. It's ironic that Obama benefited from the increased military and intelligence network enacted by the Bush Administration after 9/11. And it answers the question of what a "President Biden" would have done.
There was also one line in the BO campaign commercial where Slick Willie Clinton comments about how devastating it would have been for BO if the mission had failed. Devastating for BO? What about the SEALS? Those guys could have lost their lives...what's the worst that could happen to BO? Another failure? What's new?
Yeah, Slick Willie cares for nothing but himself and Chelsea. He certainly cares nothing for his corpulent, lying wife. I think the lives of a few Navy SEALS mean absolutely nothing to him.
Here's a story that'll make your stomach turn: http://freebeacon.com/admin-drafted-memo-to-shield-obama-if-obl-raid-failed/
Those seals are a whiney bunch. The real seals are the ones who are not whining like little babies... "wahhhhh...wahhhhhhhh! ...'bama...wahhhhhhhh!"
Here is the irony, hypocrisy, two-faced nature, in what you have with Republicans. It seems that in the Republicans opinion, Jimmy Carter was entirely responsible for the failed rescue of the Iranian hostages when the helicopters crashed in the desert. It wasn't our men in uniform that the Republicans blamed, it was Carter. Now that Obama successfully led the effort to killed public enemy number one in a very similar military operation, it wasn't he who succeeded but rather the men in uniform. Hum? One might look at the Right's selective emphasis on these situations and come to the conclusion that their positions have more to do with partisan idiocy than any kind of actual ability to judge the culpability of anyone in any of these events. Just sayin’.
It was disgusting how the Obama Administration wanting to get as much as a ride as possible over a year ago let out what military units were involved with taking out Bin Landen and then the set up to take out that unit should have been investigated. That is the story that needs to be discussed. 22 DEAD Navy Seals. 30 Americans in all I believe.
Do you have any evidence that any of the soldiers involved in the bin Laden killing were among those who died in the crash? It's just that all the reputable sources I've looked at say definitively that none of those who died in the crash were part of the team that hit Abbottabad. For example, The Christian Science Monitor:
I can not help but wonder as to why you are making so much out of President Obama using the Killing of Bin Bags during his re-election campaign? Let me ask this of you all, did President Bush ever mention the war on terror and how it was going? the War in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan when he was seeking re-election? If the answer is no never then you have a justified complaint if not then you dont. Has President Obama ever taken the credit for killing Bin Bags away from those who did the killing? He is the President and the job was done under his orders not any one else, his and his alone. If it had gone wrong then the blame would have been laid at his door the same way it was with President Carter. You want something to throw at him then try his lack of support for your countries best ally the UK over the Falkland Islands. Some of your politicians have raised this I wish more would.
I certainly don;t see any issues with him using it in his re-election bid. He had multiple options on how to proceed. He made the tough decision. It was counter to some of the advice he was being given. It was risky. But he made it anyway and it worked.
