With all the strange beliefs this religion has and their long history of racial discrimination, why has this not been a issue in the campaign so far? I think if we can talk about Rev. Wright endlessly, certainly Mormons are a valid topic as well.
No, that would be waging war on "religion". There are only two contexts in which criticizing religious people, policies, or institutions is acceptable. One is if it is a religion other than Christianity. Two is if it is to the real or perceived detriment of Barack Obama. And in the latter case you have to add the qualifier that you are not criticizing true Christianity or true Christians. Of course with Romney there's the Mormon wild card.
Did you notice the Rev Wright images in his video about 20 seconds into the ad? I think he opens the door for the Left to talk about the LDS church just like the GOP did when they hammered away on Wright. But as you say, this would be proclaimed as a war on Mormonism. What a bunch of bloody hypocrites the Right is.
Obama's-gonna-winnnnn, 'cause-no-ones-gonna-wanna-vote-for-the-morrrrrmonnnn, 'cause-mormons-are-not-the-"proper"-christian-religionnnn, so-Obama's-gonna-winnn-a-gaiiiiinnnnnn! Four more years!
So, let me get this straight, if a candidate does talk about his faith he is a zealot & that's bad yet if a candidate doesn't discuss his faith that's bad too? Just asking.
And I said any of this when exactly? Sounds like a heavy-handed straw man riff on my post to me, . But refresh my memory.
It appears that Romney has no desire to rip on Reverend Wright at this point. Unlike some other Mormons I mean morons he knows a dead horse when he sees one. At least in this case. This also brings up the possibility for typos. Just miss on "m" and they're Morons after all. At this point, at least, I think he realizes that bringing religion to the forefront would not necessarily behoove him. Many "Christians" think that Mormonism is not really "Christian" enough to begin with or at all. Plus he can always change his mind if desperation kicks in.
I'd add that with Romney, as it is here on Partisan Lines, it's perfectly acceptable for him to mention it once or twice whenever he wishes... but if anyone should darrrrrrre to respond in a way that doesn't benefit him.... well now, that's just unacceptable! Yeah, that's right David, Coin, and rlm.... I'm referring to you three ! But hey, you wanted to play the game, and it's your game, so you shouldn't whine like children when you loooooose the game,! Who am I kidding, they'll be whining to the mods any time now! "Waaaaaaaaaaa! Waaaaaaaaaaa! We want to insult people and not have them throw those insults back! Waaaaaaaaaaaa! We're losing the game! Waaaaaaaaaaaa!" LOL
Well, not exactly "no desire". But since February, Romney has turned over the old etch-a-sketch once again and shook it clean after he made these comments.
