Come on Meon...over 80% of the country is already employed by small businesses and the argument that democrats look out for the little guy is getting old. Actually, I really believe that liberals want to keep the little guy, "little" so you have a dependent person who HAS to vote for the candidate that promises (votes for) more income tax redistrubution and government programs for their needs. Think about it...once a person starts sucking on a government nipple, it is hard for that person to stop. The same goes for the argument that republicans want to ruin the enviroment. I know many conservatives that like fresh air and clean water, but just because you want to go after oil in Alaska (ANWR) doesn't mean you are anti-environment. Where does it stop? You have environmentalists that hate automobiles, nuclear power, and would prefer we live in the 15th century. So that argument is getting old too. [BTW...at least you didn't bring up burning black churches and throwing granny out on the streets. We will leave those old debates for those liberals further left of you .] As for what private corporations pay their people, it is called the free enterprise system! I could make the same argument when people pay 4 dollars for a freakin' cup of coffee...or $2 for a pint of water! These C.E.O.'s and other executives have to answer to their bosses...the stock holder and if everybody is happy, let the free market forces work! What's next? Pro-athelete's salaries or what Tom Cruise makes on a movie? Again, nobody is forcing people to buy their stock or sip a $4 coffee. I could go on and on, but I am celebrating today as legal tax paying Americans are going to keep more of their money than handing it over to our government. Tax revenue is INCREASING into the federal coffers as the best way to increase any our government's bottom line (and business) is to INCREASE sales or tax payers, NOT tax rates. BTW...you have to love the "Democratic Duo". It is sooooooooo perfect.
That is why we NEED the Dems ideas on health care to be put into practice. Health care is KILLING these small businesses. As you know the Republicans have never had an original idea to address a problem so they won't do anything about it.
Don't have one, never had one, never was offered one! What I do is throw as much pre-tax money into 401-K's and IRA's as I can. I will never depend on a specific company much less the government to provide for me...anybody that does is simply foolish. Companies come and go. Shoot, I remember reading years ago Tom Peter's "In Search of Excellence" where he pointed out that over HALF of the Fortune 500 companies that were on the list (when he wrote the book) 30 years prior were not only off the list, but OUT OF BUSINESS! Imagine that!?! So we could depend on somebody else to provide for us or take ownership of your own future. I prefer the latter. Unfortuantely, liberals are TOTALLY against empowering the individual. Case in point recently was when it was proposed that ONLY 2% of the 15% that is taxed for social security could go (opt-in or opt out) into private retirement accounts of YOUR choice! What happened? Liberals went crazy and pulled out the "anti-this and anti-that" political tactic. You think liberals want Americans to have a choice on where their hard-earned-taxed money is going??...even if it is only 2 of the 15%. Never!! Why??? Because liberals believe governement and their socialist programs know best!
We both claim to be on the same side as Joe Average. You see social programs that are supported with tax dollars as the bad guys and I see employers raiding employee/employer funded pensions as the villians. Unfortunately, we are both right and neither social security nor pensions will be around when you and I and the rest of the baby boomers reach retirement. We should get together when all of this eventually happens and make a toast to both being right...if we can still afford it.
I am all for that Meon...you bring the black socks, I'll bring the sandels, Old Dan will provide us with white belts so one day we can laugh about this over adult beverages/dinner at my home. The neighborhood loves my cooking...or is it that they KEEP me cooking so I can't participate in political discussions. Now, you got me thinking...it must be a conspiracy to silence me. Imagine that!
Instead of just toasting yourselves being right while the country falls apart, why don't you try to elect people who will do the right thing? It sure beats moening(moaning) on here about the problems. Craig
