Okay, here's an informal poll concerning your political affiliation for the 2008 United States Presidential Election. Which party would you would affiliate yourself with. This will be an anonymous poll with three choices, Democrat, Independent, or Republican. Everyone is invited vote and comment in this poll.
indy...and still finding it hard to find someone worth voting for. BTW...there is Green a Libertarian as well...it says something that to most there are only 3 choices though
I mince not words, Republican...except if McCain gets the nod, then we'll see whether I vote libertarian, communist, socialist, green, whig, do-nothing, bull moose, pretty much have a drawing out of a hat without the slip democrat included.
I think McCain would be all right, except for his age. No offense intended for older folks, but way the presidency ages a man, I would not like to see someone in their seventies get in office. McCain is the only candidate I've seen who seems to have other than poll driven speeches.
I don't really think this poll is necessary. There are clearly more Republicans in this forum and always have been. Why is a more interesting question.
A direct link between coin collecting and republicans....hmmm. I mean we all know coin collecting is the best thing ever, soooooo on that note we could ascertain that republicans...
Thats what I would have thought too. I'm kinda suprised to see the independent neck and neck with republicans. I personally am independet all the way. Always have been, always will be.
I will confess to voting primarily republican, but don't hold any ironclad party affiliation. I do like to listen to people who have ideas & opinions of their own, who don't have to check the polls before speaking.:kewl:
...Love money more than anything? :goof: EDIT.... REPUBLICAN You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So? Not the most alturistic group on the planet to say the least. What makes me a Democrat isn't that I want others to give away what they've earned, inherited, stolen, whatever, it is that I'd rather live modestly and help others than live wealthy and help only myself. I believe helping others makes us all better people. If this concept sounds foreign to you, you just may be a dyed in the wool Republican. I don't worship money or God. I collect coins because of the interesting history behind each coin and I avoid worshipping God because of the bloody events and intellectual suppression that has gone along with that practice throughout history. Those are the reasons I can not see myself as anything other than a Democrat not for the reason others have attempted to label me as. But if labels make you more secure in your narrow-minded beliefs, knock yourself out.
It is interesting insight into the viability of the representatives available, who have announced their candidacy for the 2008 Presidential race. According to all the news outlets the Republicans have a snowballs chance in hell of retaining the Presidency, but the polls just don't show those sentiments... I think the "First 100 Days or Hours" whatever it was, is really opening peoples eyes as to what may lay in store. The polls (even this one) are reflecting this deep concern/disapproval for the direction headed... Ben
A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a progressive Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, she was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs. In other words, redistribution of wealth. She was deeply ashamed that her father was a staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures she attended and the occasional chat with professors, she felt her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his. One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on "the rich" and the need for more government programs to help the working class. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth, and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school. Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA. She let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting she was taking difficult courses and was constantly studying, leaving her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying. Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Cindy doing?" She replied, "Cindy is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college is a blast for her. She's always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over." Her father then asked, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA. Certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA." The daughter, visibly shocked, angrily fired back. "That's crazy — how would that be fair? I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, a lot of hard work. Cindy has done next to nothing toward her degree. She parties while I worked my tail off!" The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently to his daughter, "Welcome to the Republican Party." Hey, Moen, I can't quite afford one of them fancy Gold Buffalo coins. I read somewhere a few months ago that you ordered 3 of them. What say you shoot one of them over my way?
What know you CoinTalkers of Ron Paul of TX? I'm just learning a bit about the man, and I'm finding him of interest. A representative who consistently votes according to the constitutionality of a bill whether or not it means he stands alone... wants a return to the gold standard... That would be a nice new political party, the Constitutionalist Party. Debt and Taxes Working Americans like lower taxes. So do I. Lower taxes benefit all of us, creating jobs and allowing us to make more decisions for ourselves about our lives. (more...) American Independence and Sovereignty So called free trade deals and world governmental organizations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), NAFTA, GATT, WTO, and CAFTA are a threat to our independence as a nation. (more...) War and Foreign Policy The war in Iraq was sold to us with false information. The area is more dangerous now than when we entered it. We destroyed a regime hated by our direct enemies, the jihadists, and created thousands of new recruits for them. (more...) Border Security and Immigration Reform The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. This is my six point plan: (more...) Privacy and Personal Liberty The biggest threat to your privacy is the government. We must drastically limit the ability of government to collect and store data regarding citizens’ personal matters. (more...) Property Rights and Eminent Domain We must stop special interests from violating property rights and literally driving families from their homes, farms and ranches. (more...)
LOL, that was great!!! Myself, I think both parties are full of crooks and liars... They are both so far out of touch with what the average Citizen wants... I usally lean republican/conserative, but I don't drink the Kool-aide... I'm for Lower or Less Taxes, Less regulation, smaller more local goverment, Very Progun, Concered about Healthcare costs, but not really for a socialized H.C. I'm for Border Patrol or securing the borders and very concenred about the shrinking middle class.... Where are are kids going to be in 15 years after we have merged with Mexica and Canada??? I also think we need to stop giving so many hand out to other countries and help our own people... What sucks is its easy to come up with a Idea, but its really hard to propperly implement them...
