On the other hand, I don't believe that the hateful behavior of conservative members of this site can be taken as representative of conservatives in general. Yes, there are conservatives that are filled with hate for people on the left. Conservatives like that tend to be vocal about it, and plenty of them get on the internet to spew their bile. I've lived among conservatives most of my life though, and most of them aren't like the capering internet conservatives who can't wait to hurl abuse and rarely let facts stand in the way of their jabbering. While many of them are willfully ignorant, they still seem to be good people. Maybe once they're in the privacy of their homes sitting in front of the computer screen they turn into contemptible jackasses, just as some people turn into malevolent idiots when they're behind the wheel of a vehicle. I'd rather not believe that.
