A shallow narcissist has been elected, and it doesn't bode well for the United States.

"The Shallow State: Forget the conspiracy theories. Something much more dangerous is seeking to gut our government and change the character of our society."

Let's not kid ourselves here . . . despite being far more eloquent, President Obama was no less narcissistic than President Trump is, and made changes no less impactful upon the then-present state of America than POTUS Trump now plans.

The only difference is that liberals are now where conservatives have been for the past eight years . . . enjoy.

What would you say are the signs that show that Obama is a narcissist?

No comment on the actual article?

For starters, President Obama's thin-skinnedness and long standing refusal to admit he was wrong about anything is evidence of his narcissistic bent.

Regarding the article in particular, Mr. Rothkopf apparently feels that Mr. Trump somehow owns a monopoly on the shallow state. That sentiment couldn't be further off the mark. President Obama himself was a purveyor of buzz-word politics and pandering to his mindless Bama-phone peeps. That aside, the author's critique of President Trump's penchant for using social media is misplaced.

Social media has taken over the communication stream, not because one can get a full story in 140 characters, but because mass media has failed us. If the public had more faith in the completeness and objectivity of reporting by television news, it would not have been abandoned for the tweets and snippets that today seem no less meaningful than the filtered and slanted garbage that the media moguls try to sway us with. They've burned their own house down . . . good riddance. One-by-one, they'll lose their businesses to new upstarts who'd better get it right, or suffer the same fate.

The first of the media outlets to get it just right will own that market, leaving precious little room for others to make inroads . . . survival of the fittest, as it should be.

Personally, my common sense money is on Fox News . . . but you already knew that.

A sample of what can be found that shows you're incorrect. A couple of these were fairly high profile stories during the Obama presidency, but selective memory is a wonderful thing:

"Obama Admits He was Wrong on Big Oil"

"President Obama admits to making a mistake ‘once a day’"

"Obama admits reference to Auschwitz was wrong"

"President Obama Admits the 'Worst Mistake' of His Presidency"

"Obama admits he ‘fumbled,’ says Americans can keep their health care"

"Obama admits administration got it wrong on ISIS. That’s a good thing."

    Do carry on.

You've been listening to Trump's lies about how media outlets he doesn't like are "failing."

"New York Times profit better than expected due to digital push"

"'Profitable' Washington Post adding more than five dozen journalists"

"One billion dollars profit? Yes, the campaign has been a gusher for CNN"

No surprise there. As a Fox News viewer, you've probably never heard of the surveys that show Fox viewers are generally less well informed than just about anybody else in the US.

"How Fox News Changed American Media and Political Dynamics"

Anyway, you've managed to avoid dealing with the actual gist of the article. Well done.

Oh, but Mr. RBGUPI makes sure we see them. Problem is, their "less well informed" only says conservatives do not agree with the liberal point of view. Well golly gee whiz. Tell me something new.

Let me preface this with the statement that I don't believe anyone attains an office as high as the presidency of the U.S. without being somewhat of a narcissist. Certainly, we've had presidents who display varying degrees of narcissism throughout our history (for example, Dwight Eisenhower on the low end, in my opinion and Bill Clinton on the high end, in my opinion). I would rate Obama very near Bill Clinton with Donald Trump lower on the Narcissism Scale. Narcissism isn't, necessarily, a bad thing when it comes to being an effective leader, however. After all, most leaders have to have a certain amount of "swagger" or "charisma" to attract a populace who feels the person believes in himself (or herself) and has the confidence to lead.

It's when narcissism gets in the way of leadership that it becomes a problem. Obama's narcissism, for example, worked against him because he thought his flashy smile, demeanor and cult of personality could sway people his direction. Bill Clinton's narcissism also failed him because he thought he could do anything he wanted without consequences. Both Obama and Clinton displayed the "emperor" aspect of narcissism.

Donald Trump, on the other hand, has experienced financial power all this life which would give anyone a certain amount of narcissism. Power and fame were thrust quickly upon Obama and Clinton whereas Trump has dealt with them since he was a young man. Obama and Clinton didn't know how to handle it and their narcissism came boiling to the top. Trump has had plenty of time to deal with any narcissistic tendencies in his psyche and what I believe we now see displayed with Trump is an honest dedication to make our country great influenced by his suppressed narcissism having dealt with equals in the business world for so many years.

Certainly any leader, famous person, celebrity, etc. is narcissistic. It's how they handle it that counts. Trump handles his narcissism with casual ease. Most narcissists want to be adored and fawned over, much as Obama and Clinton wanted. In Trump's case, he merely wants to lead and show the country where it should be heading (with a sprinkle of narcissism thrown in).

    Obama is a narcissist.

Charles Krauthammer, former psychologist, declares Obama is narcissistic.

Ben Stein calls Obama a narcissist.

    Obama is definitely a narcissist.

Here is your narcissist passing the blame on like all Republicans do.

Donald Trump Blames SEAL’s Death On Military: ‘They Lost Ryan’
    The buck stops with ‘them.’
    By Igor Bobic

President Donald Trump on Tuesday dodged responsibility for a botched mission he ordered in Yemen last month, placing the onus on the military and Barack Obama’s administration instead.

Bill Owens, the father of Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens, the Navy SEAL who died in the operation, demanded an investigation into his son’s death over the weekend. Owens further revealed he

couldn’t bear to meet Trump at the airport
as Ryan’s casket was carried off the military plane last month.

Asked about the matter during an interview with Fox News’ “Fox ‘n’ Friends,” Trump repeatedly said “they” were responsible for the outcome of the mission, in reference to the military.

“This was a mission that was started before I got here. This was something they wanted to do,” he said. “They came to me, they explained what they wanted to do ― the generals ― who are very respected, my generals are the most respected that we’ve had in many decades, I believe. And they lost Ryan.

“I can understand people saying that. I’d feel ― ‘What’s worse?’ There’s nothing worse,” he added. “This was something that they were looking at for a long time doing, and according to [Defense Secretary Jim] Mattis it was a very successful mission. They got tremendous amounts of information.”

The raid yielded no significant intelligence, U.S. officials told NBC News on Monday. Earlier this month, however, Pentagon officials said it produced “actionable intelligence.” So, too, did White House press secretary Sean Spicer, who initially called the raid “highly successful.”

“I think anyone who undermines the success of that raid owes an apology and [does] a disservice to the life of Chief Owens,” he said earlier this month. “The raid, the action that was taken in Yemen was a huge success.”

Exactly. They were responsible for killing bin Laden, too. Thank you, military!!

I see, if Republicans fuck up, it is the military's fault not theirs. "Pass the Buck" says the sign on Trump's desk. If the Democrats have a successful military mission while in office, then it is the military and only the military's success.

DO YOU EVEN SEE YOUR OWN HYPOCRISY? doubtful.
