Any opinions on these anti-mask folks?

In my humble opinion, these people should have their kids taken away. It is the height of lunacy equating wearing a protective mask to stop the spread of a deadly virus with your "FREEDOMS". How damn stupid do you have to be to threaten health care providers that are the experts here? This isn't about freedom, this about people being misled, lied to, and fed false narratives by unscrupulous politicians for purely political reasons. This is straight up insanity watching these people foaming at the mouth screaming threats of violence at health care workers. Makes one wonder about that "American Exceptionalism" nonsense. I think this pretty much says it all. These people have never developed beyond adolescence and they are voting.

Look no further than Ron DeSantis to see someone peddling stupidity to his minions.

I said it some time ago here.

"I'm an American and I have a right to be stupid!"

I suppose that's true but don't be stupid for your kids while you're busy making sane people ill.

The 40% who can't be bothered to get jabbed because they know more than doctors or they understand freedom better than the rest of us or just know that the magnetic 5G is gonna be injected in their veins are why people continue to needlessly die. And they are why life continues to be hell for the rest of us.

Anyone ever notice how anti maskers sound exactly like children? Demanding everyone else is afraid because we grasp simple concepts and aren't gullible.

I wanted to think about this before I responded because I wanted this to be meaningful. Yes, I do have an opinion on anti-mask folks and I suspect it won’t be a popular opinion.

As a nation we spent two hundred plus years as a collective that accepted personal sacrifice. We had no issue giving of ourselves or having the ability to laugh at ourselves…… Now in two short generations we have become the most self serving and overly sensitive society on the planet. Rather than having the ability to laugh at ourselves, we take offense with one another over absolutely nothing. Heck, we even take offense on behalf of others that aren’t in the room. We are so at odds with one another that we even have message boards like Partisan Lines to take offense with one another.

On the heels of becoming so absurdly overly sensitized as a nation, is it any wonder that anti-mask people may feel their rights are being trampled? We poke one another in the eye over and over about every little thing that we are no longer able to think in terms of self sacrifice……. This whole thing has less to do with masks and a whole lot more to do with this pitiful state we have all put ourselves in.

I saw a similar sentiment in a post a little while back.

75 years ago people signed up to go over and fight and die for people they didn't even know.

Now we can't even be bothered to wear a simple mask to protect people we don't know, neighbors, susceptible people, or even the hospitals who would have to deal with ourselves if we get sick.

Thanks Randy. I think to some degree, we are a more "sensitive" people but maybe that came after decades of insensitivity by a whole heck of a lot of people. In other words, maybe we were due for some attention to other people's issues and it has simply come to a head.

I think you often feel....I guess some would say under attack, intolerant of, or using your words, poked in the eye. However, I think this pitiful state has another side. I agree that it isn't healthy or optimal for any nation to find themselves in this type of discord. No one wins when we don't work together as one people. And we are definitely of two minds these days like never before.

Our previous divider-in-chief was the single most partisan leader this country has ever had. Trump is just a symptom of the rot we are feeding off of as a nation. He is still at it and has the complete loyalty of the entire MAGA base. This cannot go unchallenged or it festers and grows and will surely lead to violence and has. Ignoring it, as just about the entire GOP has chosen to do, is certainly not the answer. So where does all this lead us as far as masks are concerned?

Masks have zero to do with freedoms, rights, or any other perceived entitlements. They have to with public health plain and simple. The MAGA crowd and their shamelessly irresponsible, and I might add cowardly leaders like Texas Gov. Abbott and Florida Gov. DeSantis, are politicizing mask wearing as something other than a public health precaution in a cynical attempt to keep themselves in office. Talk about the blind leading the stupid. Your "freedom" to give others Polio, Small Pox, Ebola, and now COVID-19 does not nor has it ever superseded the rest of our public health rights. Only the Republicans feel that they are more important than our kids, our elderly, our health care workers, immunocompromised people, or our communities. WHY?

Defending these people that feel like their rights are being trampled seems more akin to catering to a spoiled child throwing a tantrum. We all know how that works out.
