After Michigan and the open primarys, only Republicans will be able to vote for McCain, no more dems or indies....the only partys that handed him NH Do you think the Repos will actually back this guy after 7 years of temper tantrums and doing everything possible to cause grief to the Bush administration? It is looking more and more here locally like he will NOT carry AZ, and word in the circles is that JD Hayworth is either going to run against him OR for Govenor ( please please !!!! ) McCain opinions? I will not hide my dislike for him, but I want YOUR opinions..
I to do not agree with a lot of his opinions but he is a bone fide American Hero and would rather see him in there than any of the carpetbaggers. EXCEPT, for a full blown a hero like Clinton and company, I will live to regret that statement. It is better to light one candle than curse the darkness!
There is not a Republican left in the race that I really care about. McCain is probably the least objectionable to me. I might be able to vote for Gulianni but I probably wouldn't. I will never vote for Romney or Huckabee. Paul doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell. So, come election day in November (if McCain isn't there), I will probably either vote independent, not vote at all, or vote for Obama if he makes it that far. The probabilities are probably in that order.
I respect McCain tremendously for his service to our country & what he had to endure but I certainly don't want him as our president. He lost me with his stance on immigration plus I don't agree with him on the waterboarding issue. I back Huckabee based on social issues & the Fair Tax!!
EXCEPT, for a full blown a hero like Clinton and company, I will live to regret that statement. It is better to light one candle than curse the darkness![/QUOTE] Clinton a hero? Please tell me this is just a bit of sarcasim.
This is a bad election year. There isn't a candidate anywhere on the board who doesn't have big, ole' glaring faults. That being said, I would have no major problem voting for McCain in November. Heck, I voted for him in 2000, and met him in 2002. My big thing for McCain (right now - with this election, I could change my mind tomorrow, and again the day after that, and the day after that, and so on ad infinitum) is that he doesn't seem to me to be pandering to special interest groups like everybody appears to be doing.
McCain: Reagan Republican He is my senior senator...... He has missed 80% of Senate votes while campaigning He has voted against the border fence EVERY time ( when he votes ) He is FOR the world court, to try our soldiers during a time of war He is FOR amnesty for illegals He is against free speech, McCain/Fiengold reform He is against drilling in ANWAR He is only now, as a candidate, for tax cuts He has stopped the republican fillibuster on the Supreme's nomination ( gang of 14) He is for giving terrorists lawyers in US courts I'm tired of typing John McCain, the Reagan conservative. War Hero? , simply prisoner of war, there were many, they are all heros anti abortion, he is consistant against late term, ok, he has 1 quality I concede The way I see it, it will be 2 Democrats running against each other in Nov, I will hold my nose and vote Democrat, just so they can take the blame for everything and McCain cannot further ruin the Repos and the conservative movement. It's a sad day when that traitor calls himself a Reagan Conservative.
Not only no but **** no, I am going to vote for Obama bin Barak or his cousin the notorious bin Clinton. bin is arabic for son of.
When I read crap like this it reminds me that the Republicans might never be an affective party until it just flat out jettisons the reactive radicals who wrap themselves in Shroud of Turin and the Confederate flag and believe that defines being "Conservative" Let me hit you with a clue stick. On the national scale Abortion Issues are a non-starter and have zero importance to national policy, security of economic soundness. McCain's joining the gang of fourteen proves not a weakness, but an understanding of Governance, compromise. The situation was completely gridlocking the peoples business on capital hill when other compromising solutions would otherwise (and was) worked out which supported the increasing important conservative and national need for Judges who and non-proactive. Meanwhile, the Senate was then able to turn its attention to something equally important if not essential, like preventing NYC from being nuked by Islamofacists. The same morons who run around like chicken little deriding the McCain-Feingold act preventing freedom of speach then run around deriding that corporate interests are selling out the US worker with the WTO and NAFTA. Make up your mind. As for immigration, which is not a Conservative/liberal outside of turning the US into a police state and a prison, what possible solution is there. Putting a fence up like on the Israeli West Bank is unacceptable to me as a Conservative. I will not have this country locked up like a prison. Mexico is not an enemy state sending suicide bombers over the boarder. Illegals already here need to be shipped back, faster than they are currently, but the entire situation of that boarder needs to reassessed. Germans and French easily pass their boarder. Over a third of Mexico was invaded by the US and absorbed. Yah think we might get a lot of Mexiancs? How about Canadians. The absorption of Mexican workers need to looked at in a pragmatic light. We hand out Medicaid and Welfare to them and then lock them up and ship them out. Furthermore businesses must be given serious punitive legal action for hiring illegals. A $25,000 per head fine might be the first place to start, with real enforcement. Illegals should get ZERO government support, local or federal. And neither should their children born here. But we also need to decriminalized the Mexican/US boarder or we just might find ourselves with REAL enemies in Mexico based on decades of resentment, distrust and hatred. McCain understands this issue and understands that it is intertwined with both our national interest and with how we view ourselves as a FREE PEOPLE. Free people don't tolerate the gestapo rounding people up off the street in mass for deportations. But neither do I need to cry for them when they can't get welfare. and so it goes on. Let me tell you something, If Giulliani ever got elected, you'd be kissing his ass in a short time because unlike the talking head cases presuming themselves righteous conservatives, no single individual in US history has done more good for more people in a direct way by bring real conservative policy to government, which resulted in real reduction in crime, and end to race riots, control of government budgets, a bottom line accountability to government agencies, and a protection of freedom in the densest region of the nation ...not even the beloved Ronald Reagan. And if you don't believe that Rudy is a true conservative, then your not listening well enough because nobody on the right was the liberals fear as much as Rudy. Because Giulliani knows how bring it to them in REAL politics and to affect genuine conservative change. And they hate him for it. McCain is not going to be as good. But he'll be OK. When you get Obama, with economy stifling socialism tax plans, a weak military, and a likely nuclear terrorist attack on US soil, then you'll wake up. I'll probably be dead, but hey....you don't have much love for me either. Ruben
McCain leads both Obamma and Cilnton in current Rasmussen Polls. While he may not be the best Republican he's certainly better than the alternatives who are currently tearing the Democratic Party apart. It's inevitable and definitely for the best of the country. Look for a RIOT at the 2008 Demoncratic Convention (like 1968) with thanks going to Bazrak and Hille2ry... http://www.rasmussenreports.com/
It is time to rally behind McCain as our man. I have many disagreements over policy and do not believe that "reaching across the aisle" is the way to forge a stronger conservative movement, but consider the alternatives. Reagan and Goldwater would both back him now, as will I.
