As the title says - it seems like Travis Scott did more incitement than the president that day. Just sayin.

8 deaths and hundreds of injuries. Yikes! Lawsuits coming against Travis Scott for sure.

I can't say that I can relate to the current popular music scene. When I was driven by popular music it was a whole different sort of thing. Yeah, you might see a joint being passed around, but people sticking needles randomly in other peoples necks? Heck no man. And these days entertainers have the house plugged directly into their ears. There is no way an entertainer wouldn't be aware that a crisis condition were taking place. I would have to say that there was some serious negligence taking place there by all parties involved. After all, the venues and entertainers can't line their pockets if the show isn't going on.

Major show promoters are all about the money, and not the art. The more packed and frenzied the mosh pits are, the more they can sell other venues on the popularity of the artist being penned into their calendars. Those venues want assurances that they'll sell all of their capacity, and photos of people packed together like sardines are a powerful sales tool. I'd bet this has as much to do with the artists management, if not more than it does the artist himself.

Rap concerts often devolve into crap shows. Many of them argue the terms of the show beforehand. If they don’t get their way (smoking pot on stage, etc) they either try to cancel the show last minute to punish the venue, or just do what they promised not to do anyway.

I think you're spot on with that. The event organizers are responsible for these kinds of things (overcrowding, funneling of the crowd to choke points, emergency procedures). I don't think Scott is innocent in this ordeal, but I do feel he's being scapegoated by the promoter (LiveNation)

In no way is that unique to rap though. To take this conversation to a more controversial place, consider country stars cancelling their shows last minute to punish venues for asking to see patron's vaccination or negative covid test status.
I'm only 27, but back in my day (as long as the behavior wasn't hurting anyone), we used to call that being punk rock.

This is not the first time people have died at a concert.
Go back to 1969 at Altamont.

Rolling Stones with Hell's Angels as security. Not real bright.

1979 The Who in Cincinnati. 11 deaths.

Now we have deaths at a concert again but more of a bunch of idiots fueled by an idiot.

Whereas the Capitol was, hmmm, a bunch of idiots fueled by an idiot.

There is one glaring difference though (2 if you count the number of deaths).

The idiots at the concert weren't trying to overthrow our government.

The idiots on January 6, 2021 were.
