My view of Obama

I sat down earlier & wrote a long post on why I'm frustrated with the Obama campaign but I realized after several paragraphs that I hadn't even scratched the surface so I deleted it & decided to make a couple of brief points here.
Obama is an empty suit, put forth by his handlers with an only God knows what agenda. He has never accomplished anything- anything. He hasn't managed, budgeted, hired/fired, met payroll- anything and now he wants to run the country.
He gets up in front of the camera, dressed nice, well spoken & says nothing but catches folks attention by saying "change" and using marxist/radical slogans. Nothing that we know about this guy is good- he associates with anti-American radicals, his campaign appointments are an embarrasement...Has the guy even ever held a job? Community organizer? What's that, exactly? Harvard Law Review? Liberal/radical training ground. Author? He wrote 1 book about how the US has held him back & his other book was inspired by his mentoring from Jeremiah Wright!! His wife wants to be 1st Lady but has never said anything positive about the country...rumors persist that videos exist showing her at Trinity Church using the term "whitey" to denegrade white people & suggesting that Farrakhan could make a good VP candidate!!
His campaign was fashioned after an episode of Cheers where Frasier, out to prove a point about how easily people could be influenced showed that any candidate who dresses nice will get 10% of the vote & if you utter the phrase "change" enough you will get elected.
Why can't you Obama supporters see this? It's classic "Emporer's New Suit" mentality...preach Change, throw out promises of free money & social welfare programs, promise to lower taxes hen create "bad guys" to go after such as big business.
Oh, I get so frustrated...he is going to lead us down a path of destruction and the lemmings are going to follow...smiles on their face to the end.
This isn't a closed/open minded debate...it's a matter of shaking off the glitz, seeing through the BS and using some common sense!!

    Ok David,

I'm only going to respond to this line of rubbish at this point. First it's "rumors". Feel free to spread the rumors. Yes, the fear tactics work so well.

Now, I may be wrong but I think I've probably spent a lot more time in the black community than you have. This is why I do not fear them.

Got news here buddy a great deal, if not a majority are no different than the "whiteys". They work, they support families and send children to college.

They hold so many of the same beliefs as "whitey" it would astound you methinks.

Now, IF Obama wins the election who will run the country? Barack or Michelle? Even if she DID think Farrakhan would be a good VP candidate I think her husband knows a bit better. He would lose EVERY white vote and a ton of black vote as well.

Years ago I managed a small business on the south side of Chicago. I had two employees. Both were black.

I bought a Farrakhan newspaper one day from a corner vendor (from my car at a stop light actually). When I got to work they questioned why I was reading such garbage.

I told them I shouldn't criticize unless I did a bit of reading. Well, I DID see a lot of hate being spewed. Unfortunately it was being spewed by a very intelligent man. Truth is truth dude. Farrakhan is one bright individual. Were he not he would not have lasted this long.

If you really look at it what's the difference between a Farrakhan and a White Supremecist? Color. Both are wrong. Both survive.

Hate and prejudice are wrong no matter what anyones personal opinions are. Bringing up "rumors" with no substantiative backing is no better. Running a campaign on fear shows me nothing more than fear.

We have nothing to fear but fear itself it seems.

How in the world did you contort my post for anything the least bit racist? Because I see Nobama for the empty shell he is, I'm racist? On the contrary, Michelle's "whitey" comment shows their deep-seeded racist views.

    Clembo,

I respectively disagree with you. The problems the United States of America faces go beyond the Presidential level, there's already corruption deep within the Government and it has spread to both parties. Nobody apparently is immune. I also personally feel that the (Third World War) is in progress, but at a slower TEMPO since the antagonists must act independently without organized direction: there is no visable front, but there are without-a-doubt rough nations behind these terrorist actions and WHO???. the (AU, UK, USA) will stand between them and a way of life we as powerful Western Nations with Western Values kinda like.

(I still get a kick out of Australia being called a Western Value Nation, by Al-Quida.)

We as a people are a Warrior Nation, and our offspring carry the same genes the Celts carried at Hadrians Wall against the Romans where their advancement was largely halted. Be proud of that fact. Our current adversary will not march straight up to us in formation they are much more insidious and deceptive.

FWIW, I personally will not kill my daughters because they have a boyfriend/s and will not slug my wife simply because she drives. I/we have different values...

He, Obamma is a Stuffed Suit.

Perhaps you should read my post again David. I certainly don't see where I contorted you or your post into racism.
THE FEAR of racism based on "rumor" is my point. Racism is not right no matter what ones color is.

I have enough black friends who have been called the most common derogatory word only because of skin color. I myself have been called a few things due to my skin color.
It happens all the time. I constanly here the phrase that blacks are referred to as from white people. For some reason they don't think I find this offensive.

I'd be willing to bet it happens the other way in the black community as well. I will say that my black friends don't really talk about it with me but it does happen. Hell, Obama acknowledged in a speech in Philadelphia.

Using the term "whitey" when referring to a "rumor" is pretty low politics I'm afraid. SPREAD THE FEAR!

I personally don't give a rat's butt what Michelle Obama has to say. I'm not planning on voting for her.

Honestly Bone I don't have a real problem with what you say and that we disagree.

I actually agree with a lot of what you just said. GOVERNMENT in general is really messed up. Continuing this path will only make it worse.

Obama may be a horrible leader. On the other hand he may turn out to be what this country actually DOES need.

While the Republican party is busy tearing apart and loading up on the fear factor I still fail to see where McCain will be any better. Let's face it guys it's going to be one or the other and that in itself sucks.

So let's say McCain wins it. We basically keep plugging along as we have. Yes, I do know some things will change but overall he's committed to a war that is overwhelmingly NOT supported by the people in this country.

So those people just keep their mouths shut and bear it? That won't happen. The discontent will only magnify which will, in turn, give bigger opportunities to the "radicals".
Desperate times call for desperate measures and if you get enough desperate individuals all hell breaks loose. This has destroyed nations in the past.

Obama could be the next Hitler. Who knows? I'm willing to bet he's not but should he lose and things continue as they are the next "Hitler" may look even better in 2012.

For the record. If I had daughters they would be allowed to date and I don't beat my wife.

    Interesting conclusion, considering:

Obama Was A Key Player In Assembling And Passing The 2007 Ethics Reform Law, Which Curbed The Influence Of Lobbyists And Was Described As The "Most Sweeping Since Watergate."

Obama Passed Law Requiring Comprehensive Nuclear Threat Reduction Strategy To Secure Weapons And Usable Nuclear Material

Obama Passed Bipartisan Legislation That Expanded Health Care Coverage To 154,000 Residents, Including 70,000 Children.

Obama Passed An Amendment, Which Became Law, Preventing The VA From Conducting A Review Of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Cases Aimed At Reducing Benefits.

SOURCE: Highlights of Obama's Strong Record of Accomplishment in the U.S. and Illinois Senate

I respectfully disagree. Obama has run a superb campaign, built from the ground up, and surpassed the long entrenched Clinton machine in only a matter of months. All manner of media (which a quick Google search will confirm) have remarked on the harmonious workings of his grueling primary campaign. That was the yardstick Obama set for himself:

"We asked him directly, how concerned should we be that you haven't had meaningful experience as an executive -- as a manager and leader of people?

He said, watch how I run my campaign -- you'll see my leadership skills in action. "

SOURCE: Obama: Leadership? "Watch how I run my campaign."

Well, why wouldn't be dressed nicely? I fail to see what bearing this has on his capabilities.

If he's saying 'nothing' and using 'marxist/radical' slogans, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about, eh? I must admit I'm curious as to what you'd classify as 'marxist/radical' slogans, too. Would you care to elaborate?

All the candidates run on 'change', so that's not earth-shattering. Your statement reflects your perception of the changes you've concluded Obama will make. Unfortunately, I don't see anything credible presented to support your conclusions.

Ahhh, guilt by association. Lovely tactic there. This has been addressed repeatedly, but one more time for posterity:

"The only hard facts that have come out so far are the $200 contribution by Ayers to the Obama re-election fund, and their joint membership of the eight-person Woods Fund Board."

    SOURCE: Obama's 'Weatherman' Connection

As far as campaign appointments being an issue, you'll have to be more specific. (FYI, vague accusations will be ignored.)

    Ask and you shall receive:

"Remembering the values of empathy and service that his mother taught him, Barack put law school and corporate life on hold after college and moved to Chicago in 1985, where he became a community organizer with a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods plagued with crime and high unemployment.

The group had some success, but Barack had come to realize that in order to truly improve the lives of people in that community and other communities, it would take not just a change at the local level, but a change in our laws and in our politics.

He went on to earn his law degree from Harvard in 1991, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. Soon after, he returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer and teach constitutional law. Finally, his advocacy work led him to run for the Illinois State Senate, where he served for eight years. In 2004, he became the third African American since Reconstruction to be elected to the U.S. Senate.

    Continued from Post I

Yes, he's the author of two best-sellers. I'm guessing that you've not read either one. What I found was:

On Dreams from My Father: Elected the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, Obama was offered a book contract, but the intellectual journey he planned to recount became instead this poignant, probing memoir of an unusual life.

SOURCE: Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance (Paperback)

And on The Audacity of Hope: With his second book The Audacity of Hope, Obama engages themes raised in his keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, shares personal views on faith and values and offers a vision of the future that involves repairing a "political process that is broken" and restoring a government that has fallen out of touch with the people.

    SOURCE: The Audacity of Hope

Evidently you've never heard Michelle Obama's speak. I'll let her speak for herself:

"What I was clearly talking about was that I'm proud in how Americans are engaging in the political process," she said in remarks to WJAR-TV in Providence, R.I. "For the first time in my lifetime, I'm seeing people rolling up their sleeves in a way that I haven't seen and really trying to figure this out, and that's the source of the pride that I was talking about."

    SOURCE: http://www.mcclatchydc.com/election2008/story/28263.html

This is pure interpretation on your part and has no basis in reality. Sources, please?

Again, all politicians 'preach change'. Nothing new there.

Obama has not promised 'free money' to anyone. He has promised to return to a 'pay as you go' policy.

Obama believes that a critical step in restoring fiscal discipline is enforcing pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) budgeting rules which require new spending commitments or tax changes to be paid for by cuts to other programs or new revenue.

SOURCE: Restore Fiscal Discipline to Washington

Oh, and big business? Like WalMart, Enron, Verizon, etc, who have outsourced/elimanted many American jobs? The ones who benefit from those handy tax loopholes that let them dodge their share of fiscal responsibility? Newsflash - they're picking your pocket.

Your frustration is evident. Your basis for that frustration is, as I've shown, unsupported. I would hope that would be a source of relief for you, but somehow, I don't think it will be. Your words and tone betray you as someone who is clinging to their skewed views regardless of any facts to the contrary.

This is most assuredly a closed/open minded debate, for some of us, at least. It's open minded if one is willing to adjust their conclusions based on fact. It's close minded if one has already decided on a conclusion and ignores facts to the contrary.

As you have seen, I prefer basing my conclusions on verifiable, credible sources and not on out of context, hysterically framed YouTube snippets and e-mail chain letters. That protocol has enabled me filter out the slanted, fear-based rhetoric and focus on the foundational facts. I highly recommend this process for anyone who's interested in reality-based thinking.

Gypsy, you do a good job cutting & pasting from Nobama's propaganda pages...'nuff said.

    Dan,
In your post you made it a black/white thing...it was inevitable that the Democrats (well, Hillary) would be the first one's to make it an issue and now people won't let it go. I would vote for a horse if it was the most qualified (this year a horse may just be the most qualified!!), sex, race or religion wouldn't effect my vote. My problem is with Obama, the enigma. In fact I have a very good friend who happens to be black & a Democrat- he finds Obama's appeal amusing. The fact is Obama, by design, appeals to rich liberals who want power and believe socialism is the key. He also panders to the poor by promoting class envy and promising an endless flow of entitlements- "Take from the rich & give to the poor"...he resites these mantras so often, people get whipped into a frenzy but where is the money coming from? Answer? My paycheck & your paycheck!!
He plans to confiscate the profits of big business, particularly oil companies...why stop there? Who is next? Wal-mart? Universities, dollar for dollar, are the most profitable enterprise in the country...why not force them to lower tuition rather than have us belly up to subsidize his $4000 tuition assistance plan?
If you tax the hell out of businesses, the extra cost is passed along to consumers any further hikes can no longer be passed on. What happens next? They are forced to move out of the country...people lose their jobs, R&D stops!!
Did you hear some of his befuddled answers to reporters questions the last few days? If it isn't rehearsed or scripted the man has no idea what to say!! Is Iran a threat or not? Has he decided whether or not he believes life begins at conception yet? He sure couldn't answer that question when posed to him!!
Furthermore, I still don't understand why you don't think his associations are important!! I bet I could tell alot about you if I met your closest friends & vice versa. You may feel you're voting for Obama & not Michelle but with Obama you get the Jeremiah Wrights, Tony Rezko's, Bill Ayres and Rev Pflegers that come along with him!!

By the way, my source for the Michelle Obama "whitey" and "Farrakhan" rumors were none other than one of your own- Bob Bechtel...a long time Democrat/Liberal party member. I heard him make the statement in a television interview.

Been looking for it. Can't find it.

Yes, I do find allusions to it but still can't find it.
Can you provide me a link?

I think we all know this stuff is available on the internet. This is why it is so difficult for ANY politician to lie and get away with it without question.

Would you agree with this or would it just be a "Liberal/Democrat/Marxist/Socialist (name your poison) point of view?

May have happened David. As stated show me something.

You rant on and on then rant when people provide links.

I am often accused of not backing up what I say because I'm a Liberal. Well, in the computer age links can do that. Your style is more "Liberal" than mine dude. You just say what you saw. You rarely if ever back it up.

Nobody knows everything except maybe you David. This crap gets pretty old you know?

Gypsy ripped into you pretty hard and all you can say is "Gypsy, you do a good job cutting & pasting from Nobama's propaganda pages...'nuff said."?

I counter with this question. What are your sources and how do we find them?

I looked at a lot of Gypsy's responses and they come from a variety of sources. Not just a propaganda machine. Where are your propaganda machines David? Are they "top secret you'll find out when it's too late" machines?

I really don't have the time tonight to pick apart your whole sermon. I think I have made my point though.

You spout without backing. You criticize without looking.

For a nation complaining that they work so hard and cannot get ahead, I ask this.

Why vote for someone who is going to take more of your money and raise the prices on what you buy with what you have left?

On the war that America doesn't stand behind anymore? The majority of Americans get the news from the major media, and they are spoonfed what that media wants the " product" to be. That PRODUCT is America is suffering, America is terrible, and the rest of the world hates America. America is sooooooooo bad they say. America is not fair. America is greedy. America needs to " change". " Hope" for our "future", will you America? ( Why does everybody want to come here then? )

The product that they are selling, is Obama. Good news in Iraq does NOT get reported, that would hurt Obama. Yes it is costly, very costly. Would you rather fight them here, on our soil? Would it take another attack to wake you up AGAIN? Do you even remember 9-11? They want to kill us and our way of life. Do you want to withdrawl and allow a freakin nuclear Iran to take over? Obama has not even been to Iraq recently, since before the surge, and has denied all requests to visit our soldiers and military leaders on the ground. What is it that you are afraid of Mr Obama?

    Ask yourselves these questions:

Do I want to pay more for my goods?
Do I want to pay higher taxes?
Do I want a leader in the Whithouse with ZERO leadership experience?
Do I want that leader to to raise his hand and say " present " when it's time for tough decisions to be made?
Do I want that leader to have a 20 year track record of bad decisions and judgement when it comes to picking friends, mentors and advisors?

Do I want a leader who every time I question his doings will call me a racist?
It is funny, if you do not worship at the Obama pulpit, you are a racist.

Reading the Obama campaign website, I wonder how in depth Obama could discuss and get into depth what his campaign workers have written on his website. Have you ever seen him without a teleprompter and a speech?

I'll grab 2 topics direct from the website:
    1. Create Jobs
    2. Raise the minimum wage

A contradiction in itself. Not only will it increase costs to business who will pass this along to consumers, it will result in the slower hiring of new workers.

When I was taught, those minimum wage jobs were entry level positions, not career choices.

Every time the topic comes up, all the Obama supporters can do is play the "change" card, or call you a racist and then cut and paste some things that Obama himself could not even intelligently discuss. A candidate for the job of POTUS needs experience, wisdom, balls and judgement. Obama has shown us none of that. NONE of that !!

Experience?.... Less than 1 term as a US Senator?
Wisdom? .....Tax and spend the American economy into oblivion?
Balls? .....Voting " present " over 130 times on tough issues ?
Judgement? .....Who has he chosen as friends, mentors and advisors?

EDITED to add: That pondscum bottom feeder dirtbag McCain is still not getting my vote.

  17. Level Headed

    Level Headed El Paranoico

I can't sleep. This is too outrageous and my mind is racing.

Create Jobs? The government does not create jobs, private industry does !!! Private industry provides jobs and competition creates better products when there is a need, like now, cleaner and cheaper energy. Yet Obama is promising to go after private industry. What gives here? Really.

Obama is going to provide jobs, even jobs with the new buzzword, GREEN jobs. Yes !!! Regulate the auto industry more !!! Michigan won't mind at all !! They love taxes and federal regulation, it is rotting them right off the map, and provides a perfect example of what a high regulation / high tax enviornment does to an industry. Hey, lets do that to the whole freakin country too !!! Taxes and more regulation, freakin awesome !!!

Mr anti big oil...where were you today when it was time to vote in Congress to tax the oil companies and raise the price of gas? That is your big issue, yet you did not vote? Mr McCain is not expected to vote, he never does, but this was your campaign issue of the week, and you do not even show up to vote? Not even a " present" ?

helped draft legislation " and " worked on " are empty claims.

What piece of legislation has Obama on it? What are " his " bills that " he " drafted and introduced and PASSED, anybody can introduce anything. Try again. There is NO Obama anything that has EVER been passed in Congress.

Dan, you seem like a smart guy, mark my word...one of these days you're going to wake up & say "I can't believe I bought into his idiotic BS". I pray that you & a lot more Americans have this revelation before it is too late.
Wake up people!! The Obama group is running a scam...why isn't it obvious to you?
Do you believe he won't raise your taxes?
Do you think he will get us out of Iraq any quicker than McCain will?
Is confiscating the profits of legitimate business a wise thing to do?

    C'mon, think man, THINK!!

    Clembo,

Please allow me to thank you for the back up. I am fed up to the gills with folks who spout fear-filled screeds with no evidence to support their notions. They get their 'information' from Faux News, Rush Limpballs, Drudge Report, and Redstate, who are nothing more than lickspittle lackeys of the Bush cabal. It's refreshing to see a voice of reason in the midst of the miasma created by Bush, Cheney, et. mal.

Keep up the great work and remember, the 30 percenters are in for a huge wake-up call in November.
