I guess he's trying to show that he's equally indifferent to the suffering of white people (as he was to the suffering of the black people in New Orleans)?
Well, during/after Katrina, Bush was attending John McCain's birthday party. I wonder which of his cronies have birthdays in June? Probably Cheney, Rove, or somesuch. Of course, if I was dealing with a disaster on the level we're seeing, I think I'd be glad that another disaster (Bush photo-op) didn't roll in on top of that!
Chuckle, there were hundreds of photo's of him while he was on his Presidential trip to Europe. FWIW, that's where he was at during the recent floods in Iowa and elsewhere...
The best photo of all was Bush and Bush41 fishing in the French Quarter, with W holding up the striper for the camera. EDIT: I did not mean to come across as callous, sorry, bad timing.
Don't get me wrong, my heart trully goes out to the people affected- I live close to the IL/IN border..we know people that suffered losses...I have bank customers who lost homes, property & businesses......here comes the but... I guess it comes from my deeply held beliefs of small federal gov't but I think the burden should fall on the local & state gov't more so than the federal gov't. The federal gov't certainly has a role but what good would it do to have the President spending 24 hrs a day in effected areas? Photo ops make you feel better? What can he do there? I would rather see him overseeing the daily business of gov't and delegating disaster relief to the numerous agencies designed to handle it. I can comment on Katrina too, if you wish...I lived there for 4 years prior to moving North!!!
