Today I got word that not one, but two of my close friends have cancer. One has a nodule in his lungs. The other a cancerous prostate. Both were seeking prayers to get in for a PET scan which is needed to determine if the cancer has spread. One has been told eight weeks and the other ten weeks! And this in a city with five major hospitals. It has nothing to do with equipment availability and everything to do with navigating the ACA bureaucracy…… I am fed up to here with accepting mediocrity in this nation. They wanted us to be more like a third world nation and they have succeeded. Pat yourself on the back Dems. You should be quite proud of yourselves.

toughcoins Rarely is the liberal viewpoint tainted by realism

They'll continue to gloat until it's them wanting better service than what their system affords them.

It's a doctor shortage. It's been in the news for years, nurses are tough to come by too.

They do mention the ACA in this article, but maybe not in the best way for your arguement. More people insured = more patients = more burden on doctors. While technically true, it's a bit grim to advocate against increased coverage.

The American healthcare system is utterly broken, but let's not pretend it was a well oiled machine before the ACA.

First and foremost, prayers to your friends for the best outcome.

Secondly, the ACA was supposed to fix the American health insurance problems, but it’s done nothing but create unintended consequences (I use the word “unintended” for those who were too blind to see these problems coming).

Third, I’ve heard numerous complaints about the ACA which includes everything from being way overpriced to long wait times as you’ve described above.

Obama sold America a bill of goods just like any sleazy snake-oil salesman would.

Insuring more people makes the statistics look good, but does very little for those who may die waiting for help. Welcome to socialism.

Not to place to fine a point, but it was Emanuel who made the snake oil, and his concocted building blocks were placed on the stone foundation ingredients conjured by Romney.

The economy carney barker was Gruber. EVERYBODY hated him. Therefore, he built a consensus single handed. Good job.

As a follow up….. As it happens, my sister in law works in the health insurance bureaucracy. She was able to make some phone calls and my buddy with the nodule in his lungs is getting his PET scan next week which is wonderful news…. But it sure does serve to underline who is driving health care decisions in a post-ACA world…. And it ain't your family doctor…

My wife is a nurse in southern city. They are flooded with illegals and homeless who get every test in the world. Most of the illegals came with major medical needs and are of retirement age or will never work.
Many of the homeless have drug related illnesses with heart, lung, you name it damage.
Then there are those who come in for a bed. The deal is to say your heart is hurting and that’s two three days of tests. Expensive shelter
One of the reasons they are overwhelmed.

Both party establishments have sabotaged the health system, the educational system and the justice system. etc.
