but thats where this post has been going. blaming the events in N.O. on it being a democratic city.

The list was made up using three major criteria, 1) corruption, 2)drugs, 3) murders. Go back and see for yourselves and not believe what someone else has claimed in defence of their side of this argument.

Of course. But we all know that in reality, it's because N.O. is a below-sea-level party town with a history of kissing rogues since the pirate days.

There does seem to be, to me at least, a relationship between being Democrat run and a higher likelihood of being corrupt. However, I'm not sure it's cause-and-effect, and it's obvious that no party is immune to it.

Anal probes by aliens. Perhaps I should wear my foil hat elsewhere.

Darn illegal aliens, protecting our borders also means airspace you know!

The origin of the cities list, I believe

    Violent crimes, not government corruption.

It was just hijacked into that recently so that Andy could find yet another way to blame the Democrats for everything. I wouldn't have even considered blaming either the Dems or the Reps for what happened to my nephew. The big city corrupt law enforcement culture in this country is well known and transcends either political party. It's so common that it is regularly depicted in literally every T.V. cop show on the air. It just hits home a little more when it happens to someone you know. The N.O. cops were just a bunch of southern bigots…You know the kind…Like the ones out in the middle of nowhere in let’s say Wyoming. Small minded individuals with opinions on everything and nothing but contempt for anyone different from themselves.

"Hijacked": Excuse me but why was your post any different from any other posts in that the topic was expanded.

"Southern Bigots": I thought you said that your nephew looks like a german soldier. Wouldn't they salute him instead of wrongly attacking him if they were bigots and is not the past and present police heads of New Orleans black as in Afro-American. I find most of the south to be pretty open minded and good natured. Is this a red state/blue state thing on your part?

"Andy could find yet another way to blame the Democrats for everything": I regret that your nephew was beaten and I took you for your word that he did nothing wrong as I had stated. I took the line that the New Orleans cops must be on a pay out from the bars and therefore are more like employees of the bar then police and that the corrupt city government machine is as much to blame for creating and allowing this environment to exist.

I would think that most people who read my posts would see that I feel that the rank and file of both major parties have alot in common. I had posted more then once that I hope that a strong mainstream leader from the democratic party emerges to take over and win election as president to unite this nation against the left from within and the terror of jihad. I have nothing against democrats, I only attack the current democrat leadership as I have expressed my displeasure with Bushes overspending, allowing open borders, not using the Iraq oil to pay for the war in Iraq and with fighting a war politically correct. If we are to flex our muscles we should make sure we throw our hardest punch. Why take a beating when we could have thrown a quick knock out punch with air power, etc....

Here's a question: If New Orleans is rebuilt, or largely rebuilt, will things change? Will the corruption and ineptitude be cleaned up?

So far, it seems unlikely to me. I get the impression it's very, very entrenched.

That previous post about the non-existent cops on the payroll was an eye-opener. I hadnt' heard that before. I'd like to see a single source do a hefty expose', so that the breadth of the problem becomes better known.

As an American, I have a high opinion of our political system and our politicians. I mean, sure, there is tons of cr*p that annoys me; there is ineptitude, grift, greed, and dirty tricks aplenty, but it's nothing like you get in the majorityof other countries. There are so many countries where stories of what happened to Moen's nephew would be the rule rather than the exception, and where bribes are just an expected cost of doing business. That's why these stories like what's happening in N.O. is so awful; it's an embarrassment to the entire nation, and is well beyond the petty corruption of, say, a governor who unfairly exploited a tax loophole.

Don’t you know by now that when Moen posts something, you have to have his permission to post in that string, or he gets mad and falls on the floor kicking and screaming.

Knowing the people in and around this Southern area in question, there are a lot of details in this so called Police britality that simply don’t add up. But when you tell such a story, it sure gives you an opportunity to show your own bigoted attitude. Think about it, where were all the nephew’s friends while this was going on? Why haven’t we heard about any of it on ABC, NBC or CBS? (mews agencies with “B”in their name) Where are the pictures and the lawyer’s who would be giving interviews by now, IF this ever happend in the first place. NO there is just too much to dismiss, and I for one don’t believe one word of how it all came down.

This is it in a nut shell, and it all goes back to blaming someone other than that ‘black’ mayor and his buddies in city hall. Can’t do that because he’s a Democrat and it would hurt his feelings. Hell, he might pack up and move to south Chicago with the rest of them.

It is very hard to believe such stories without backing evidence. Anyone on the Internet can say anything. It's the best medium for urban legends and friend-of-a-friend stories ever created.

What ever happened to innocent, until proven guilty? What proof do we have other than Moen's word that this even happened? Has it been found in any othe source or news media? Exactly how much do each one of us really know about what the police force or any other part of the N.O. government is really happening?

Let's wait and see how far this will go and IF it will even be told by any other source. Isn't that the least we can expect in an Democracy?

It sounds like you and Moen have it in for each other. He says you made up
your war record and you say he made up the story about his nephew getting
beat up. Better tone it down or the admin's might kick you out. Me, I'm just
mindin' my own business... I just love everyone... :D

Your probably right Craig, we both love everyone!

But if I go, I can always say "Chaos. Panic. Disorder. My work here is done."

Go where? You mean, leave the forum! Oh, please don't go! We love you! Kiss :hail: :D Just kidding, although it would be a shame if you left. We need people like you here, people who have fought in wars and know what it's like, not people who just go around calling everybody a liar.

    Regards,

Of course you are right. And a quick survey by me of recent headlines shows, so far at least, very little substantion to charges of rampant corruption.

Who in the world could make up a story like that???? And why would anybody? I understand YOU making up a phony war record to impress your minions but what possible motive could I have for making up a story like this??? Do I or my nephew come out looking good or something??? No, it was just something that happened that tied into current events. And besides, it's highly believable considering a week later N.O. police abused a retiree and a camera crew. The FBI is looking into the situation and I think you'll see something in the news eventually. Stay tuned.

I think the only reason you even questioned the truthfulness of the story is because I didn’t and still don’t believe you earned all the chest hardware you claimed. I have an idea, take a picture of all or your metals and include a penny, nickel and a quarter in the photo so that we know you didn’t download the photos. If you do, I will apologize and never doubt your word again. That ought to make it worth your while. Ball’s in your court.

Dan, Please ignore this guys insane request.
I know how you feel. My uncle was a POW during WWII in Germany and to his dying day he never talked about his experiences and we respected his privacy and never pushed the issue. Remember that Moen has this anti-veteran issue with all veterans and not just you. There are those of us here that understand what you went through and can't thank you enough for what sacrifices you made for us. You don't have to prove a thing!!

Don't worry Steve, it never entered my mind, as it would somehow appear that I valued this guys oppinion, which I don't.

Don't know about anyone else, but after almost 60 years you don't give these things a hole lot of consideration. Actually the grandkids have the dang things somewhere in their toy boxs (I think). I remember a long time ago thought of having them made into spur rowles, but never did.

Don't have any real feeling toward the Japs any more, pro or con. Don't believe all these monuments are necessary. They are simply for the people building them to make them feel better about what ever it is that is bothering them. I don't need them and never go and visit any of them.

Having said all this, I've already talked more than I had intended. So that finishes that.
    Thanks Steve for your understanding.
