Who is your hero. This question can tell a lot about you. Lets just assume that your parents are your biggest heros and not include them. Try to pick someone who we will be a little familiar with.
As for me I will come up with an answer and list it after I see a few others.

Hero is just another name for a sandwich.

Robin Hood is a long-time favorite. I also admire Benjamin Franklin, Carl Sagan, Charles Darwin, Thomas Jefferson.

And the countless heros of the Normandy Invasion...and all the firefighters...and health-care workers doing charity work in poor, dangerous countries...

My uncle Bob. You don't know him, but he's the greatest man who ever lived.

I'll take Scotty's word for it and cast my ballet for his "uncle Bob."

I don't have heros per se, but there are some people that I respect.

My winemaking partner is 67 years old, runs marathons, but usually just three miles per day. He makes very nice furniture from Canyon Live Oak trees that he cuts down and mills on his own property. He completely restores Ramblers, and has 14 cars, even some that run, on his property. He grows premium, award winning, wine grapes on mountain (serpentinite) soils that are basically Mg-toxic. He virtually names each grape.

This guy mixes, moves, and places concrete by hand, whereas I am inclined to use concrete pumps and ready-mix trucks on larger projects. He reads every day and has no television or computer. He heats his house with wood, and has no air-conditioning. I am talking him into a swamp cooler for those 105-degree days in August. Gar is basically a retired redneck hippie with a master's degree in child psychology. He listens to George Jones and is almost always happy and fun.

Just an all around interesting guy. He is a Democrat!!!! :eek:dd:

I have newfound respect for you, OldDan.

Seriously, if you knew my uncle Bob, you'd say he is one of the greatest. He was a Golden Gloves champion, but you'd never know it from his quiet demeanor. He never brags about anything. He can build, lay concrete, fix cars, hunt, fish... you name it.

He was a truck driver and was once ambushed by 3 men during a stop on his route. They hurt him badly, but he never said a bad word about them. I've never wanted to kill anyone in my life except for those 3 men. But, the way uncle Bob spoke of the incident without anger or hatred humbled me and made me realize that hatred, in any form, is evil. I owe that man more than I can ever repay.

    Isn't that Jeff Wigand?

Sorry you're right...Dr. Jeff Wigand is probably the modern version of David, of David and Goliath fame. He took on a giant and lost everything to better the country he lived in. There aren't too many people in this country of money driven consumers that would have done what he did. He proved that heros can be anybody.

I thought you knew what you were talking about the first time, as Paul Wiegard isn't exactly chopped ham. A young lad from Australia who has made quite a name for himself in Entertainment.

How many of you have noticed the similarities between Robin Hood and Danr?
You got to admit they both have the same MO.

Jeff Wigand was a great choice. It is darn hard to stand up like that.

I used to work in the court archives in downtown Louisville. I was there when all the Wigand stuff was going on. There had been some minor district court cases involving him, and that stuff was popular. His opposition and the media were all in there on a regular basis looking it over, looking for dirt. The files were so "hot" that they just took everything having to do with Wigand and moved it to the Circuit Court Clerk's office across the street so the ombudsman could just keep track of it.

If Danr is Robbie baby then my hero would be the Sheriff of Nottingham and you know how I feel about captail punishment!

    Only kidding?
