Is Obama Focused On Libya? No, He's Focused on Mariah Carey & Nicki Minaj

The Middle East is in the middle of a meltdown and is our leader focused on it? Is he contacting world leaders? Is he focused on the problems? Is he doing everything in his power to avert disaster? No. He's focused on American Idol:

President Obama weighs in on ... Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj?​

On Friday afternoon, President Obama phoned in for an interview on Miami radio host Michael Yo’s call-in program “The Yo Show,” where the first question dealt not with foreign or domestic policy, but with the “American Idol” feud between judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.

Clearly, the President had spent some time thinking about the issue.

“I think they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident. I am all about bringing people together, working for the same cause. I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they’re moving forward and not going backwards,” he quipped, before continuing about how Carey is his favorite, “a wonderful lady” who has “done some events for us.”

And just in case you really needed to know, Obama doesn’t know Minaj personally – but he has the rapper’s tunes “on his iPod.”

While obama went on to talk about national affairs for the duration of the "Yo Show," some were not impressed by his entertainment news knowledge.

“For anyone who's a serious-minded voter, this is ludicrous. We'd like our president focused on global crises -- like Libya for example. But Obama isn't trying to reach serious voters, he's trying to reach a few clueless young people more focused on ‘American Idol’ than American security, ” Dan Gainor, VP of Business and Culture at the Media Research Center, told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. “It's not just embarrassing that Obama has lowered the office of president to "American Idol" and "Sesame Street." It's infuriating. Maybe if he focused more on the economy, some of those same college students would be able to find jobs when they graduate.”

Ronn Torossian, CEO of 5WPR and author of “For Immediate Release” was also left scratching his head as to why our nation’s leader even indulged the question with a response.

“With the presidential election only a few weeks ago and key elements like the economy and Iran facing America, one wonders why Obama comments on issues like 'American Idol' or the Jets quarterback controversy. From a communications standpoint, even youth don’t want a President commenting on the Kanye West/Taylor Swift incident when there are more important issues,” he said. “He appeared on the Letterman show the same day he snubbed Israel’s Prime Minister, and it’s unbecoming of the President.”

Yawn...apparently it's an important story for FOX, and their viewership "base". I've heard worse stories lately, and I've decided to throw you a bone. I've heard Obama's ring professes his devotion to Islam. It must be true because the people spreading the story all agree, and it's on the Internet.

 

BO sticks with the sources he knows will lob him the softballs...he can talk about entertainment figures with the ladies on The View or a late night comedian but heaven forbid he be asked questions concerning national security, Fast & Furious, the debt, unemployment, fuel prices, etc.

 

I'm not quite following that. Are you saying the media isn't asking him such things?

 

How can they when his only appearances are either on entertainment tv or campaign stops? Both venues are tightly scripted & done in front of friendly crowds. I mean, how tough is David Letterman or Joy Behar going to be on BO? Do you think Beyonce or Mariah Carey are grilling him on his policy failures?

Fair enough, but as President, his opinions on the points you mentioned are public knowledge. What you appear to be asking is that he parrot (pun intended) himself, when it isn't necessary. For the record, I'm not into politics and don't believe any candidate should be questioned repeatedly so, unless a specific detail is missing from his/her response. In the President's case, he has Press Secretaries and such who answer for him, so you also have a point there...but not a huge one, IMO.

 

I guess you are so enamored by BO you can't see straight. For the record, him making a campaign speech or cozying up on the couch with Whoopi Goldberg isn't the same as answering questions from the press or the public

 

I fyou cannot control your impulse to harass, you shouldn't be here at all. If the decision was mine to make, both you and Coin would be warned to stop harassing me first, and banned for a week or two after a repeat offense, and banned permanently for a third. That is my opinion.

I don't understand why grown men would run to a moderator for any reason! If you don't like what someone else posts either ignore it or slug it out by replying in kind.

 

My Assessment: Great answer to a stupid question followed by a desperate criticism.

Quite a few of the reports were mine. I don't mind admitting it at all. More than fifteen? Doubtful, but I wasn't keeping count. Aren't we supposed to report obscene posts or when someone uses offensive language? Yes, we are and I'll continue to report as warranted.

 

Me = about ten to twelve. Two at the end, just before I ignored them completely...to inform the mods. The others were Coin's ads in Chatter, which you can view my reasons for there.

I'd guess the rest were equally split between the two, so roughly one a piece on average for every report.

Sorry for my part in this bs, btw. I made my point and stopped. They are now to be ignored for ever, by me. You have my word on that, so you'll not be hearing this particular type of idiocy between us ever again.

What you saw was just that, replying in kind. The problem with that is, beyond it's juvenile qualities, it doesn't address the problem itself, it escalates it. I chose to, for a limited time, since the other options were less palatable, and weren't working.
