Stalin did not belive that Germany would be stupid enough to launch a two front war. The madman Hitler, upset afer the loss of the Battle of Britain needed to vent his anger on something. I would never try and defend Stalin but without him the outcome of the war in Europe would most possibly have been much different. I just hope we never get a nut case as bad as those two over here. One thing you can say about Americans is that we are a diverse culture. We have our problems but what family doesn't?

War would have been different if someone more intelligent than drunk Georgian been leading USSR. War would have ended sooner, with less USSR deaths. Problems Zhukov, Koniev, Rokossovskiy had were that Stalin thought he know military theory. He also always fear they become to popular and take power from him. With purges of 1937-1938 so many of top officers of Army were buried that it also miracle that USSR could fight any war for years.
