But by all means, let's ban drag queens at story time

Alright, let's unravel this. I think it may have been posted on the forum before, but can I see the source you're using for educators being child molesters?

    Yep, they are:
    https://news.yahoo.com/nearly-270-k-12-teachers-153855454.html
This is the arrested individuals. Way higher that those killed or injured in school shootings. Maybe we should ban teachers!!

Okay, 270. That was a story that tracked January to September, so let's extrapolate it to a full year and say roughly 360. Then, it says only 74% of those were against students, so we'll cut off a quarter and make it roughly 270 a year. Is that year out of the ordinary? I don't know, but let's assume it's not.

How many educators are there? That's tough to say since the article also includes other school staff as educators, but if we look at teachers alone, it's a bit over 4,000,000.

Of active teachers, you can then say it's roughly 0.0675 per 1000 teachers. Or 0.007% of teachers.

Now, Catholic priests, since they're so we'll documented. Without even getting into the stats, just taking their word for it, the Catholic Church itself estimates that 1% of its priests are predators.

From that, you can see that you are 1%÷0.007% = ~142X as likely to be molested by a Catholic priest than you are any given teacher. I was very generous to the Catholic priests in this too.

What's more, the core of the problem isn't that there are predators. It happens over a large enough population. The problem is that schools remove them and the church protects them. The Catholic church scandal isn't that there are abusers, it's that it's been systematically covered up and enabled.

Aww, struck a nerve did I? Do some research YN, I have to go to work in the morning but I’ll be back.

Oh, and you suppose that the educator's wrongdoings are somehow completely accounted for? Unlike working for the church, as soon as there's a whiff of trouble, a teacher can just move on and take a job in some other district, getting a fresh crop of potential new victims to prey upon.

No . . . your numbers are not at all representative of reality.

I do not suppose that. I think both schools and the church are undercounts. If you look back through the numbers, I think you'll find I was exceedingly generous to the church for the sake of argument.

Are you not familiar with the Church scandals? Because that's exactly what they are. Like, seriously, knowingly shuffling predators around to new locations was the chief method by which the church enabled and covered for them.

I wonder how many Priests are drag queens....as opposed to public school teachers. If we figure that out, then we can get somewhere with the math problems.

Then again, maybe dressing up as Nuns should probably be excluded from the math problem.

    I don't know some stuff.

I looked it up. Guy is seriously f—k up in the head.
Wonder why Bill Clinton or Bill Gates didn’t invite him on the jet to that island of sin.
Guess being only a state Senator, he was to low on the pervert ladder of power.

Oh boy, percentages but no pie chart or graph? :( Unfortunately, as any bleeding heart snowflake would say to your evidence..."What does it matter, if only one child is molested it is a terrible thing. We need warning labels on, priests, teachers, parents, and Step-parents!"

 The squirrel found a nut! This is 100% true. Hopefully, things are changing.

I too am certain that both the church and education are undercounted, but I think you were far more generous with schools than with the church.

My point is that educators are free to move anywhere they want, anytime they please, unencumbered by, and better able to conceal their activities from administrators in their local organization.

I suspect a vast majority of the rocks have been turned over in religious organizations by now, thanks to anti-religious zealots like Daddio.

It's high time the same is done throughout educational oranizations.

    How so?

I counted actions done by non-teachers as teachers

Assumed @Profiler source was both correct at face value and generalized it to a year.
Gave an extra 1% (only taking off a quarter instead of 26%) when looking at crimes against students.

Assumed a newsworthy amount of cases generalized to all time

And then I just took the Catholic Church's unscientific estimate of 1%, which is almost certainly way under. I could have used the Church Commissioned John Jay report, which estimates closer to 4%.

I actually tried to be very lenient to the church when coming up with the 142X number

They can't when they get caught. That's the point. The equivalent church situation is if the administrators found out and then had them moved to a new school once they were accused.

The cited FOX article stated, "These crimes occurred throughout various districts across the U.S., and the data does not include the arrests that were not made public. This means those crimes weren’t counted in the analysis, and the number would definitely increase if included."

Not knowing what portion of the crimes were not included in the analysis, you have absolutely no idea how many more are to be counted. Not even a clue.

If you really believe that sexual abuse by educators averages somewhere south of 50 per state per year, I've got a bridge to sell you.

Think about this for just one moment . . . there are 11,355 schools across this nation. You can't tell me that 360 abuses per year across all schools comes anywhere near passing the sniff test . . .

. . . unless of course it's the Joe Biden sniff test.

I assumed both datasets were incomplete for similar reasons, and made plenty of accommodations to lower the numbers for the Church.

I do think 360 is reasonable for the record. Within an order of magnitude or so. Unlike the Church, schools are absolutely full of people who will turn their colleagues in.

You don't know there's that many more, but the evidence doesn't seem necessary for you to draw your conclusion. Perhaps I've forgotten a core principle of modern conservatism...

    @GeneWright,

The major difference between conservatives of good moral character and you and your ilk is we answer direct questions asked of us in a discussion.

:( That's what makes posting with  liberals a complete waste of time so I  will not ask you a question to defend your opinion. You ignore direct questions making posting with you worthless. ;)
