forgive me but most of the debating sites i frequent ask pretty big questions.

however this site seems happy to debate pointless arguments.

so i ask all of you "Does God exist"

    whether you're christian
    or if your're muslim
    or Hindu
    or atheist

please bring your intellect to this question.

I cant believe I've entered this site just to argue the big Game or whether maddie's parents should be scrutinized. We have huge issues to be debated here. please step up to the plate and voice your opinion.

Hey Plato.. welcome first of all.. I guess it depends on how a person defines God.

What can be known for sure, is that there is a cause responsible for human life. Whatever the cause, it is the same for every human that will ever have existed. This is as far as I can know with 100% certainty. Whatever the truth is, that's God, to me. I don't claim to know what that truth is, only that it exists. It must, we exist.

This is the stupidest thread that I have ever seen. If you consider this a big topic then you're a moron. Part of the problem is, every site has this thread, and every time it just turns into people getting mad at each other and there is no answer. This is a belief and there is no way to prove either opinion.

I for one will give you a straight answer, but it will most likely not be what your truly wanting.

The first thing to remember is God made man, man made the many religions in his futile attempt to both understand and worship God. Man is one error after another, he cannot do anything perfect, that is why we have so many religions.

All life comes from existing life. Play all the games with evolution you like, if you keep going backward, sooner or later you must come to nothing. An that is impossible. Nothing comes from nothing, there must ba a beginning and what began that?

So, the only conclusion is there is still a massive leap of knowledge that science cannot figure out, how a living cell can come into being without other cells creating it.

There is evidence of God working in our lives for those willing to see him.

That little kids welfare is more important to me than the illogical disconnected ramblings of a theist. Go stick your arse in the air and pray to your sky-faerie. We did that **** years before you ever got here.

Most of us come from another board. So even though you might not have found any threads on this subjecct we have beaten this horse to death already. We already know eachothers stand on the issue so to go over it again would be pointless. But if you have something to throw in that's fine.

Wow Bender, THANK YOU so very much for posting that! I have been saying those same things for so many years, and of course people have been saying I'm crazy, but that's OK, because I know that the facts are on my side. It's really nice to see such things documented in movie form. If something like this movie was shown to kids in school this world would be so much better, but I guess that's expecting too much. Another good video to watch is called "The Power of Myth" by Joseph Campbell. It was a special on PBS. It can be found for free at most libraries.

BTW- do you have a link for the hack that you use which allows for the movie to be shown in the post? I would like to add it t all of our forums, so that others can watch this great movie :)

I see even better made movies of how Bush planned and executed 9/11 too, I guess any idiot can make anything sound good with a movie, look at Al Gore, his movie was proven to be full of crap but some idiots still believe it.

The real point is man can mess up even the best things this world can offer. Corruption is at our core in so many ways that we see it every day, in fact, it colors out perceptions and we start seeing it where it is not just because we have convinced ourselves that the corruption is the rule, not the exception.

If I pretend to work for the march of dimes, and I go out and scam all kinds of people to donate money to me for the march of dimes but keep that money, does that mean my actions were for the march of dimes or for me?

The same is true for anyone who does something wrong or immoral. If they use religion or anything else as their vehicle for self-serving actions, that vehicle was not the basis of the deed, it is blameless.

Just because religion is used for bad things, that does not erase the good religion does. Look around the world at every hot spot and you see religious based groupd trying to make a difference. You don't see the athiest religion haters helping anyone but themselves. In my own town we have several religious based social programs completely run by donations, not one athiest based social program.

The FBI would call that a clue.

I myself deliver hot meals to those who need it once every other week. We all take turns in our group so we are delivering meals every day.

You don't have to call it God if you don't want to, but there is such a thing as good and bad. Trying to do good most of the time is not easy. In fact, the most good always seems to be very difficult. The opposite also tends to be true, the easiest thing to do is most likely bad.

I believe in God, but I also believe that God is not definable by man, we are not truly capable of accpeting the notion of God so we either try to reduce "him" to something our minds can digest, or we reject him and avoid the problem completely.

    Unsubstantiated opinion.

    Unfortunately.

Not true. All religions are man made. Those religions serve those men that form those religious groups, not God. God does not need any religion. However men need a figure like God, so that they can manipulate the masses into believing that 'they' know what God wants. Unfortunately all religions say that God wants something different, and they can't all be right. Of course the 'religion' that you're a part of always has all of the right convenient answers, right?

Nor the fact that more people have died worldwide because of religion than by any other method. Oops... bet you didn't see that one coming :D Religious wars have been consistently waged as long as written history has been in existence. Throughout Europe during the Middle Ages, the most bloody of wars were for the most part non-stop, and most of them were over trivial disagreements regarding minor differences of opinion about religious dogmas. Since the end of World War II all of the conflicts in the Middle East have been religiously motivated. The present war in the Middle East has its roots in the Middle Ages. Three of the major religions, Christianity, Judaism and Islam are totally unable to coexist because each has fundamental beliefs that are uncompromising. Typical.

    Absolutely.

That's probably the most educated thing that I've seen you say. Hope springs eternal :D

The astrological significance of the bible was interesting but when it got to the old "we done it to ourselves"crap on 911 the bull**** started to get thick. Obviously that video has to be old because the whole line of **** has been disproved time and time again.

    Dain't were no conspiracy.

Nope, fact, and so many ways, but let's start with this one and if you still have difficulty with that, I can offer many, many more:
JunkScience.com -- The Real Inconvenient Truth: Greenhouse, global warming and some facts

Well first of all, you completely missed the point I was making so let me try again.

If I put a dress on a pig and call it the prom queen, does that make it so?

People who do bad things and "claim" to be doing the act of God are not doing Gods work in reality.

In reality, there is very little seperating the many religions, sure there are fine points but many things like murder are considered a sin by most of them. Not much ambiguity there.

Actually your not original, this lame arguement has been touted with the religion haters for over 40 years, too bad they are not well educated in the reality of death caused by Athiest leaders like Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong who are responsible for over 100 million deaths and both were clear athiests.

    Nice try but no cigar.

And there is the sideways insults again implying my posts are not educated, why do you feel you must ter down your opposition? Is your faith in your abilities so low that you feel you cnnot elevate yourself so you must lower others?

And yet you still have difficulty understanding the concept that man pretending to be acting in Gods name is not the fault of God.

I noticed you completely dodged my point about how the athiests drag every scrap of possible bad done in the name of religion but completely ignore the good done by it. As I pointed out, there is not one athiest based group doing good for communities out there.

    Why?

Because the very notion of being an athiest is the self. The most important thing to an athiest is themselves, they cannot see the value of running soup kitchens or doing missionary work to help poor nations. Well, maybe they can understand the concept, but they cannot bring themselves to do it themselves, there are other more important things to do like fight for the removal of a manger scene from an obsure lot that just happens to be owned by the government, now that is important to society.
