EU Constitution ... er ... Lisbon Treaty

Ireland held a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty (which is just the previously defeated EU Constitution in a new hat) a few days ago. Ireland was/is the only nation to put the Treaty to a vote. And the Treaty required all signatories to it to ratify it for it to become law. For comparison purposes, only 9 of 13 states (in 1788) had to ratify the US Constitution for it to become law. And every party in Ireland except those nuts at Sinn Fein (who are perceived as radicals in the Republic) was for the Treaty. Thankfully, the Irish people were not. They rejected the Treaty 53%-46%!

At least the Irish goverment had the decency to allow it's own citizens the right to decide, unlike my own lot

Chuckle, so you are you saying that the outcome might have been decided sooner rather than waiting for the Irish to finish it?

There is a lot of feeling against this treaty across Europe or so it seems, personaly I am pro Europe, but they do need to sit down and realy work things out once and for all and my primery concern is border security
