Would you give us a hint what the book is about. Archeologists are still uncertain who the Pharoh was during the Exodus. Most biblical scholars maintain that it was Ramses II but evidence points to Tutmoses. Notice the Moses in Tutmoses?
The Torah and Bible and Koran have been rewritten so many times. It makes it more of a legend than archeological fact. Not to mention the dialogues of Plato.
Oh, that, well all he does is the text, not any scholarly analysis. BTW the Dead Sea Scroll of Isaiah matches our modern book of Isaiah, and the other books are pretty much original (Jewish scribes are pretty picky about that).
You are right about rabbis being meticulous but they had a hard time with the translation of the Greek. Everybody knows that written Greek was the written English of the day and just like the English language, some words have different meanings than directly translated. Todays Spanish is an example. To bolster my assertion that Greek was the main written language of the day just look to the Rosetta Stone. Greek was at the bottom and allowed the deciphering of Egyptian hieroglyphics. The reason that Greek was at the bottom was because the Rosetta Stone used to be mounted high and that was so the common man could read it. It was also made during the Ptolemy period. Pronounced Tau-lo-me in English, the heirs of Alexander and it was also discovered in Alexandria by a scientist of Napoleon. I think they were digging a fortification.
I am pretty sure that Exodus was written in Hebrew. If you have facts that contradict that I would be very interested.

Most of the Old Testament predates Greek becoming the linqua franca of the ancient world. Although composed primarily in Hebrew (parts of it are in Aramaic), it would probably need some qualification to say the Old Testament was WRITTEN in Hebrew. Most of the books of the Old Testament were passed on orally for generations before they were written down. There are also some books that were supposedly written in Hebrew for which the oldest extant texts are in Greek. Our knowledge of these books come from the ancient Greek biblical translation known as the Septuagint. The Septuagint was written for diaspora Jews who no longer spoke Hebrew, but could speak and read Greek. It is on the Septuagint that the Latin Vulgate is based. Protestants call these books the Apocrypha, and don't consider them Scriptural. Roman Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox generally do, although the Apocryphal books that the Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox consider Scriptural aren't exactly the same.
All that being said, I am certain that you would flip over this artistic rendering of the book of Exodus. Look for it next time you are in a book store, search it out.
Just remember...the terrorist prophet Mohammad abrugated any peaceful verses found earlier in the koran just like Jesus abrugated those found in the Old Testament. The koran is chronologically set up and remember...whatever mohammad says is true and can never be denounced! Proof is found in today's PRESENT day as "true" muslims are simply acting like their terrorist-pedophile prophet and why they are the cause of over 95% of today's world conflicts and wars. Although I generally agree that Islam is a violent religion, you might want to re-read your Bible. Jesus DID NOT abrogate the Old Testament. As a matter of fact, Jesus himself said in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:17), "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them." Quite simply, Jesus is the perfect example of what God meant in the Old Testament. Jesus is the object to which the entire Bible points. Both Old and New Testaments.
Maybe Jesus was just God upgrading to a new version of Christianity. Sort of like God 2.02 beta test.
