Now posted on my blog, an actual fan letter!

    October 19, 2007 - Friday

    In My Mailbag!

Here is a great letter I received in response to the post about stupid
kids. Josh was kind enough to allow me to post it for you. I think we
can all take something away from this. Thanks for sharing your story,
    Josh.

    --------------------

    Hello.
My name is Josh and I have read your post with the subject at hand.
I am only 17 years of age. I live in Pearl River, LA. And I am
surrounded by "stupid" or ignorant people.
Most of my family are rednecks. Not like the ones you see on TV, but
    the real ones. heh
I just have to say, I fully agree and support your thoughts.
I have been home schooled since I was 8. I remember the last year of
my public school life and I know the difference from a public school
    and home school.
What I'm trying to say is, I believe the schools should get most of
    the blame.
As I went from being taught my a teacher with a degree to my Mother
whom had never taught a day in her life, I learned a lot more quickly
and ended up graduating 2 years early.
    I consider myself lucky.

I hope others will read your post and hopefully let it reflect upon
    their lives and parenting skills.
I am in no way fit to raise a child financially, nor mentally, but I
believe I am closer than most 17 year olds.
I will refuse to let my child/children become ignorant. And I will be
sure to have them get a good education and be athletically fit. I will
most likely place them in Tang Soo Do karate, as I was and still am.
    Anyway... a bit off subject.

At 16, I starting driving. Having to get a job and pay my own
insurance. This costed me only $100 a month.
I know the price of a mistake now.
I am not paying $340 dollars a month for 6 more years because of an
accident. 2 months after the accident, I was laid off because there
were too many employees and not enough business. I was without a job
for 2 months and some how managed to get by.
Now I have a good full time job making more than I was prior.

My point is, start the kids off with a REAL responsibility as soon as
one may see fit. 16 is the perfect age to start them off with real
life bills. A $300 dollar car note and $140 a month for insurance, for
    instance. Hehe

I'm ranting. Just thank you for being one to allow the truth to be
told and seen by the ignorant, blind eyes of the public.

This is all good, except that it's on myspace.

I get fan mail on a weekly basis, not just E-mail's, but real mail.

Dear wavy g number won (1) fan,

I don't want to butt into your conversation but if you look carefully
at the statement made by your conversational partner, you will notice
that he/she used the possesive form of E-mail and capitalized it as
well. This indicates that E-mail (as odd as it may seem) is the name
of a person, In this case it appears to be the name of one of his/her
fans This fan, and others, apparently, send real fan mail enery week
(using stamps, envelopes and letter carriers and, probably, those funny
little underpowered vans with the steering wheels on the wrong side
like cars and lorries in England and Australia that USPS letter carriers
    drive).

    Just trying to help.

thank u, "mixed nuts" (i'm not even going to pretend like that"s ur real
    name, but 4 the sake of this disccusion, it will have 2 do). U'r right;
his fan is named "E-mail" acording to my coresspondant's previous
massage. and, as odd as it may seem that a person aparrently named
"E-mail" would actually "mail" (as in, use the government postal
service) "fan mail" to an easilly axcessible "netizen," i think i have
discovered a reasoning 2 this absolutley riddiculous scenario u hace
painted 4 us, the "internet" communitty: he ("bender") is misppeling his
"fan's" name. like, as in, for example, it is probably something along
the lines of "Emile" or "Emil" or something of taht sort. i"M not
suggesting by any means that this "bender" person is "lying" to us or
anything. no, i'm merely suggesting that--as fancifully impossible as
it may sound--he may have misspelled an already unusual name, and went
ahead and added a "hyphen" for good measure.

thank u 4 ur input, mr. or mrs. (i admit, i stole that from wavy g, but
then again, if i don't, who will?) "mixed nuts".

    love,
    wavy g's number won fan
