By MAGGIE MICHAEL The Associated Press May 08, 2007 Al-Jazeera broadcast what it said was an al-Qaida video Tuesday purportedly showing one of the three suicide attacks in Algeria last month that killed 33 people. The brief video carried images of equipment and wires being assembled, followed by a large explosion. The pan-Arab television network said the footage was from al-Qaida's branch for North Africa and that a longer segment would be aired later. The network provided no details on how or when it had obtained the footage and it wasn't immediately possible to determine its authenticity. The video concluded with a bearded man said to be Abu Musab Abdulwadood _ the leader of Algeria's main Islamic insurgency movement _ calling on young Muslims to join his group and carry out suicide bombings. 'We carry the good news to our nation and our young people and tell them that the list of martyrs is long and is getting longer day after day,' the speaker said. 'Volunteers are competing to open this glorious combating door. Don't miss out on (joining the) entourage.' The group Al-Qaida in Islamic North Africa claimed responsibility for three attacks on April 11 in Algiers which killed 33 people and wounded 57. Officials said the bombings targeted the prime minister's office and a police station. The attacks were the deadliest in the Algiers region since 2002, and came as the North African nation struggles to come to terms with an insurgency that has killed up to 200,000 people since 1992 but has largely died down in recent years. The insurgency erupted after the army canceled elections that a Muslim fundamentalist party was set to win. Yet the far left of the media and websites and some American politicians tell Americans that it is our fault and Israelis fault etc..that the innocent are force to kill us the guilty.

They included the bullet-riddled bodies of 30 men found in Baghdad - the apparent victims of sectarian death squads. All but two were found in west Baghdad, including 17 in the Amil neighborhood where Sunni politicians have complained of renewed attacks by Shiite militiamen, said a police official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not supposed to release those details.

Deadly Infighting Rages in Gaza By SARAH EL DEEB The Associated Press May 15, 2007 Hamas gunmen fatally shot six bodyguards from the rival Fatah movement and fired a barrage of rockets at southern Israel Wednesday, apparently attempting to draw Israel into the fierce Palestinian infighting as the Gaza Strip slid further into chaos. The streets of central Gaza City echoed with the rattle of machine gun fire, and were empty except for gunmen in black ski masks. Terrified residents huddled in dark homes after electricity to some downtown neighborhoods was cut off by a downed power line. A nurse traveling in an ambulance was shot in the head and killed after being caught in the crossfire, hospital officials said. Fighting raged close to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' heavily guarded compound, which also was targeted by Hamas mortar fire overnight. Abbas, a moderate from Fatah, was not present. Early Wednesday, Hamas gunmen fired mortars and pipe bombs at the home of Fatah security chief Rashid Abu Shbak, before storming inside and killing six bodyguards, Palestinians security and medical officials said.
