It's no big deal and I think the Naval Commandant or whomever was behind the statement 'that changes would be made' may need to rethink his or her comments. The swastika can be associated with a lot of cultures (Native Americans, Hindu, Neolithic Peoples, etc.) vastly more ancient and worthy of emulation than the Nazis. Hitler used eagles, commas, and periods too. Are we going to do away with those as well.

Besides it was built to communicate with Space Aliens...

They say that it is only possible to see from way up but what if some kid decides to fly his satelite over the area and gets the wrong idea about the Navy? Then we got trouble. :)

I happen to believe that this is another sample of someone not having enough to do with their time, and if it wasn't this, it would be something else.

Besides, I kind of lean toward the idea that it is Calvary crosses pointing toward Jerusalem. Now that in itself should pickup a few votes from those Californian hippies.:D

Moen, that isn't the Nazi Swastika,as the arms are not tilted downwards. The Swastika in itself is a very old symbol that is an ancient Hindu good luck symbol that is still used in the Far East for that purpose.

Good eye Aidan, I believe your right. This so called 'swastika' is backwards.

After looking it up and finding that this could be an German Swastika, I found this and posted it so everyone could read. Everything you may have wanted to know about the 'swastika' and a lot more.

A little history of why the swatstika was drawn in the first place amongst all of the cultures of the ancient world. Being an amatuer astronomy buff there is a type of comet that when rotating close to the sun, has jets eminating from the surface in a particular orientation (right angles) as viewed from Earth and that is where the swatsitka symbol originated. The Suns solar wind pushes the jets at a right angle when its density is great enough. If the comet was rotating counterclockwise or clockwise then that is the reason for the different views of the swatstika. It must have been a beautiful sight. A sign from the heavens in ancient times that good times are coming or doom.

PS None have been viewed in recent times but must have been a beautiful sight to behold.

didn't they notice it in the scale model or even the blue prints. If this is a real photo then someone should be retired.

I have not seen a new moen post on this site. Sounds as if you are trying to fish him out pepperoni. I looked up his bio type page and it seems as if he looks like Mike Savage.
