Can't defend the money for the arts, but think of the STD prevention item as providing jobs to doctors and nurses. The new cars for the government item speaks for itself. Someone has to make and sell those cars (e.g., bailout for big auto).

 

Although I want the research for STD to continue this money will not stimulate the econmy. It will keep people employed but not creat new jobs and buying a few more new govement cars will not keep the auto industry a float. These are pork barrel expenditures which have nothing to do with stimulating the economy right now.
