WASHINGTON (AP) -- White House press secretary Robert Gibbs says President Barack Obama will sign a bill to give consumers more time to get ready for the switch from analog to digital television broadcasts. The switch under current law is set for Feb. 17....

What is the purpose of delaying this?

The purpose is that MILLIONS of people still don't have that damn box yet! Me included by the sound of my response:p It's not like I have not been trying to get a stupid box for a LONG time now. They are all sold out everywhere and won't do any holds because of the high demand for them.

I should not have to be forced to get cable because of this either. I shouldn't even be forced to buy a stupid box to watch tv. I did not ask for high definition tv and purposely do NOT have cable because I do not WANT cable. Cable offers more trash than worthwhile channels, has too much inappropriate stuff for kids, is expensive and encourages people to waste their time watching tv rather than doing something active and worthwhile. *pant, pant* end of rant:D

because too many lazy idiots either didn't get off their asses and buy a box and other lazy idiots who requested government coupons didn't use them fast enough and they expired.

I also feel sorry for the old people who have a hard time getting out and about to get necessary things like groceries. Much less to hunt down a stupid box to be able to watch tv.

What is stupid is the House rejecting this bill on the grounds that more money is going to have to be spent to advertise this for the extended months. No more money and no more advertising is necessary. They have done MORE than enough announcing and advertising of this, that everybody knows the damn commercials word by word now. I'm sure everybody and their grandma is aware of the change. All people have to be aware of is of the extension, that's it!

Apparently not, since you and 6.5 million of your friends haven't got a box yet...

    google shopping link
Including one in stock that will cost $4 plus shipping (after the Gov't coupon.)

No excuse, Chi. Wanna keep watching Oprah? get off your keister and get one of these boxes already. No need to delay anything Obama.

Okay, show me ONE legitimate link (from a reputable website, not some random "seller" who claims they sell boxes) that still has boxes available and isn't overcharging to take advantage of the shortage. I have already tried looking online, they either don't take the coupons (which mine already expired btw while searching for a box) or email me back saying "sorry, but that item is on backorder, but we can put you on a waiting list...." even if the item is showing as available on their website.

Okay, I checked out those sites. Buy.com is like eBay and Amazon where people can go on there and sell stuff, so I'll probably stay away from that one. Plus, a lot of them were "temporarily sold out" and the ones that supposedly were available when I actually tried to order, the website re-routes me to "Thank you for shopping at Buy.com. We're sorry! Due to the high volume of traffic we are experiencing at this time, we are unable to process your request. We apologize for the inconvenience and invite you to check back soon."

The other site has 3 options with a lot of negative or no feedback and limited return time....

So I think I'm going to wait a bit to see how that extension thing pans out and to see if any more of those coupons become available to me. If that doesn't work out, I may order from one of those sites if I have to. So thanks:)

    buy.com is like e-bay?

It wasn't when I used it. I got an 4gig thumb drive for $19.99 last year. They had the exact one I wanted, and cheaper than anywhere else. My church also bought a projector bulb from them a couple years back, and had no issues.

I haven't used them since, so if it is like e-bay now- I'd likely stay away from it too.

She's wrong. The one choice says right on the product page that it sells and ships from ZipZoomFly.com.

She just wants to be a typical liberal and whine and complain that everything wasn't done for her by the government. :D

Again, with the stupid labels... Anyways, just dropped by to say this - Breaking: House approves new DTV delay bill : Ben Patterson : Yahoo! Tech haha! In your face (you and Eddo:p)

Besides rubbing it in your guys faces, the extension doesn't matter much to me anymore. I bought a box at Walmart for $50 last weekend. They finally decided to be smart and stock up for the demand. Plus, I'm getting free cable for a year with my internet, so I'm covered either way - haha...:D
